One Star Review of Waiting for Godot on Broadway
I recently attended Waiting for Godot on Broadway and spent over $1,400 for two Row C seats (103 and 104). I'm a longtime admirer of Broadway productions and even hold a season pass for Shea's Performing Arts Theatre, so I came in with genuine enthusiasm and high expectations. Unfortunately, this show was unlike anything ! have ever experienced —and not in a good way.
What I encountered was not the artistry, music, or emotional storytelling I usually associate with Broadway, but instead what felt like an endless cycle of nonsensical conversation between characters who seemed trapped in their own madness. I tried-truly tried-to find meaning, symbolism, or even a thread of emotional resonance. I stayed through the first half hoping the second would offer clarity. But by intermission, it was clear: this was a waste of both time and money.
Keanu Reeves is an actor I respect greatly, but I cannot fathom why he would agree to participate in such a disjointed, inaccessible production. His talent was lost in a performance that defied reason rather than provoked insight.
To anyone considering attending: unless you are drawn to highly abstract, nearly incomprehensible theater, I strongly caution you against this show. For the average, educated, thoughtful theatergoer, it is far more frustrating than fulfilling. In my opinion, this was the single most disappointing Broadway experience I've ever had - an unfortunate waste of money and, more importantly, of time.

Tumblr post from user Sapphixxx which reads: I think the moment that convinced me the operating logic of our society is truly fucked in a way that cannot merely be reformed was after that eclipse in 2017 when the articles started coming out about how much money had been lost by productivity dropping from people stopping momentarily to watch it happen. To measure the world by the metric of the dollar to such a devotion that any cult leader would be jealous of that you would look at one of the most sublime experiences in nature which we, our ancestors, and even a not-insignificant number of non-human species, have been observing in awestruck wonder for millennia, and decide that such a moment of profundity is something to be fought and preferably expunged from the human experience because it briefly impacts quarterly revenue.

Panel 1: I used to "goon" but then they changed what "goon" was

Panel 2: Now What I'm doing isn't "gooning" and what's "gooning" seems weird and scary to me

Panel 3: *Abe pointing* It'll happen to you

my 20 year was last summer and I probably wouldn’t have bothered if I wasn’t already planning on being in town anyway. maybe 15-20% of the class showed up. somehow everyone still kept to the same cliques

I always thought that would make a great campaign poster for the right candidate. Not exactly Mamdani's vibe but hey, still not bad.

I think other games should embrace Clair Obscur's mechanic of "hey man I'm 50 cents short can I kick your ass?"

Fun Tariff Facts: during the depression the US lost access to many imported paper products. They were replaced with an unusually tough paper stock made of hemp from the Philippines (then a US colony, and tariff exempt).

Anyway, that’s why they were, and still are, called Manila folders /
envelopes.

An interesting read, but I’m glad Vivian is saying this in particular. SO many of you are out here pinning Musk’s politics on his kid being trans and to be frank, that’s a fucked up thing to put on her shoulders

Been going through ancient SNES savefiles containing info uploaded to the XBAND online multiplayer servers at the end of the service in 1997 and I cannot fucking believe I found an early version of this meme here. Is this what the guy who found Tutankhamun felt like?

old Soviet joke for our times:

Guy stops by the newsstand every day, scans the front page, doesn’t buy the paper. One day the vendor asks what he’s up to.

Guy says: “looking for an obituary.”

Vendor says “those are towards the back of the paper, comrade.”

Guy says: “not the one I’m looking for.”
