Keeping everything crossed that your hip issue gets resolved. There’s enough to stress about in the weeks leading up to a big event without that.

Devon Coast 2 Coast - The event is run by Climb South West. I highly recommend their trail races. Super friendly (Justin, the RD, seems to know everyone’s name), low impact adventures.
And the home made aid station cakes are awesome.

Devon Coast 2 Coast - A Green Runners catch-up.
Delighted to meet Katie @girl-in-a-bog.bsky.social at Scorriton aid station and at the finish line in Lynmouth. Katie was marshalling the event. All the Climb SW marshalls were awesome. So much support along the way.

Dawn in mid Devon
Exmoor
Devon Coast 2 Coast - I can recall seeing / hearing 50 bird species. 100s of singing Willow Warblers across both moors, 5 Cuckoos, 5 Redstarts, smart pair of Goosander, singing Firecrest, only one Wheatear.
As ever dawn was amazing.
The night was so quiet, the occasional Fox, Tawny Owl & Pheasant.
Devon Coast 2 Coast - I’ll have more to say tomorrow but for now the results:

Time: 31:23:28

Tomorrow I’ll be embarking on an adventure across Devon, hoping to run / walk from Wembury to Lynmouth. Starting at 08:00 tomorrow, I’ll finish on Sunday. Just don’t ask me when 🤷🏻
I’m number 25 if you like slow dot watching.

A fantastic circular walk today along the SW coast path from Coleton Fishacre around to Kingswear.
Bluebells galore, clear waters, constant passage of Gannets, Black Oil Beetle, views and hills.

Here’s one (a Black Oil Beetle) we found on the coastal footpath.

I’m so impressed by the contributions to this crowdfunder that we’ve been too busy to even talk about properly.
We planted hundreds of trees. Removed infinite barbed wire. Rewetted miles of land. Already spent £3,600 on surveys yet to be done.
Help us!

1/3 Today, TGR’s Laura Briggs @veganfitnessrunner.bsky.social begins the Camino Primitivo.
She’s running over 320km, from Oviedo through the Asturian mountains, to prove that extreme adventure does not need a massive carbon footprint 💚👣

A 33km walk today.
I saw an Eider so had to walk home. The #FootIt @footit.bsky.social gods wouldn’t have it any other way.
Made the most of it and also saw Sandwich Terns, Guillemot, Red-throated Diver & Whimbrel - all new for my Foot It year (#129)

What a morning for a walk.
We headed out of the front door not knowing where we’d go.
Currently near Lympstone.

Two walks around Topsham. I enjoyed my late afternoon wander. I sat on the estuary edge and scanned the mud flats & river. A couple of Spoonbills, a Great-crested Grebe & a flock of Black-tailed Godwits. It’s a quiet time on the estuary. Later from home, I picked out 5 Cattle Egrets on the marshes.
Taper caper - 16km flat run to and around Exminster Marshes. Carried my bins so I look at some of the scrapes.
My 1st Wheatears (2) & Sedge Warbler of the year takes annual #FootIt to 122.
Warbler count while running: 15 Chiffchaff, 6 Cetti’s, 6 Blackcap, 4 Reed, 1 Sedge, 1 Willow

Greek Proverb: "A society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they shall never sit in".
That's not what we are doing now. We are pillaging the planet, each other, and the future, for a quick buck.
We need to do better.

Plastic grass, next to real grass with wild flowers growing in it
The stark contrast between plastic grass and real grass. One is devoid of life and shedding microplastics. The other is colourfully boosting biodiversity.

The false conflict between nature / climate and economic health is divisive.
I fear that lobbying by those with a vested interest in farming / water companies / building has created an unfair imbalance when it comes to how politicians view these matters.
