I really wish my college semester would hurry up and end sooner. Tired of dealing with programming. Fucking hate it. Hope I never have to take it again.

They're also more susceptible to damage, as they carry no armor of any kind. All this means the merchantmen need to be escorted by Kansen and travel together in convoys to reduce the danger they face and increase the chance of making a successful convoy run.

They're far slower than Kansen and are in no way as agile. They're armed, but not as well as Kansen, often with just heavy machine guns, a small number of auto cannons, and maybe one or two 3, 4, 4.7, or 5 inch guns. Sometimes they will have more, but these cases are more rare.

The merchantmen were not made to be with the battlefleet, resulting in them being male. Again, the reasons for this are still being researched. They can carry troops, supplies, fuel, equipment, and other kinds of cargo far easier than Kansen, but it comes at a cost.

The explanation will be that when Ting An, Akashi, Kashino, and Vestal were made, they were expected to be with the battlefleet. This was accomplished, but it resulted in them being female somehow, the reasons for which still aren't fully understood.

For Vestal, I decided that she would be in charge of the hospital ships. They'll be both male and female. It won't be a big deal because they're non-combatants. As for the merchants, they'll be male.

@riderofblack.bsky.social said Akashi would be better for the role than Vestal. Following his advice, I changed my idea so that Ting An, Akashi, and Kashino would be in charge of most of the merchantmen - tankers, troopships, freighters, etc.

I have the male ships as merchants. Originally, I had the idea that Ting An, Vestal, and Kashino were in overall charge of them. However, @riderofblack.bsky.social got me to realize Vestal would be better suited to be in charge of hospital ships.
