Poor connection between the outlet and plug will do that. Outlets can loosen up after a bunch of insertion cycles. If you notice a plug doesn’t stay in place after you plug it in, the outlet should be replaced. Dirt in the outlet could do it as well

I think that’s a fair assessment. I would say I am OS agnostic, I use whatever works. As far as Windows goes I set up AD on my NAS and started pushing GPs out to the Windows computers, which is not for the faint hearted. So I certainly went for the prune it back approach.
I thought it was really funny when I looked at the Steam hardware survey the other day. People say they are switching to Linux in droves but Windows 11 is at 70% and Linux is at 3%. Sure, that is higher than the Mac percent but with all this talk you would think the number would be higher.
I can’t say that I paid much attention to that notice on my 2008 MBP either, I just added the computer ID to the list of supported devices in the bootcamp configuration files
Bad ram chip removed from it's socket
Corrosion on the end of the keyboard cable
RIFA brand safety capacitor
The Apple IIe has multiple faults I have been chasing down. Multiple keys weren't working and the self test failed on RAM. I was able to identify the bad RAM chip by swapping RAM from the memory expansion card. Ribbon cable for the keyboard looks faulty, fails continuity and its also corroded

B&H Apple II+ all cleaned up
I have been having this odd issue with video playback in brave, it will drop the audio and then the video will run really slow. Switching between DVD quality audio and studio quality audio fixes it. Usually happens after sleep. Perhaps it is time to go back to an old driver.
I guess they hired AI this time
Reminds me of "Recompute base encryption key hash" from episode 4 of the Website is Down

All of a sudden I now have two Apple IIs. Now to Take them apart and remove the Rifas before I even attempt to use them
The plan they had before was to call every OptiPlex, OptiPlex with no numbers so you couldn't tell what kind it was. The Bios gave the number though, they did that for the newer OptiPlex 7010 and 7020. They also killed the OptiPlex 3k and 5k names which confused the person doing our audit
My boss was just concerned that the new product names would mess-up the drivers on our image. I figured they would be okay. Then they started putting "/" in the driver pack names and that's when shit hit the fan
I remember our Dell rep going through the the new names and the model number decoder. I was just thinking to myself If they want to take a page out of Apples book, look at Apple's product lineup from 1998 and consolidate more
Looks like I was using 56.64. They felt stable and UT99 ran reasonably well
Ugh I hate dealing with nVidia drivers in 98, have to jump between versions just to find something stable that also works with the game you want to run. I found a driver that was okay for a PCI FX 5200, I will try to get the version number for you
Had to take it apart when I got it as well, there were screws stuck behind the motherboard, all the standoffs and screws were also mismatched so I had to figure that out as well
OTP ROM with the board model and bios version written on it. M507 3-11 DN001 615C64DACQI

BIOS chip was not reprogrammable, had to get a new one to update the BIOS

Motherboard shows up as a FuguTech M507. Can't find any branding on the board itself but it looks correct

Found a Socket 7 PC at a local electronics shop two weeks ago, finally got an OS on it on Tuesday, more of an ordeal than I was expecting.
Okay yeh, that makes no sense
Plex had the fewest technical issues when I tried it years ago, but it didn't look as fancy and it was missing integrations. I would say that my issues with Emby are with embedded subtitles, and there used to be an issue with gapless playback for flac files for some apps but I think it's resolved
Dang, well I bought Emby's lifetime premium thing a while ago so I never really think about the cost of it since it's a one time payment. The only reason I got that was so I could use the DVR function. Not sure what features they paywall or how much premium costs now
KVM + DVD drive + USB hub
Display Port KVM shenanigans
What isn't working:
- Keyboard and mouse in Windows Vista
- USB DVD drive under Windows XP (causes bsod)
- Can't get into the bios or use grub on one of my computers if the receiver is on the USB 2 hid ports works fine on the USB 3 ports
I should probably revisit Jellyfin, it has been years since I messed with it and I ended up using Emby because it felt more polished at the time
What a beast!
More info on the blue PC now that I have been using it a bit
- Windows XP runs at 1440p ✔️
- Crushes the Vista Experience Index ✔️
- Runs Crysis ✔️
Love this, looks amazing. What's the experience index look like?
The HUD gets a bit messed up in the carbonized version, but I do have it as well as some network keys that I could never get working. I should mess with those when I get back home
