First stop at an Ionna charger, in Beaver, UT. Pretty seamless, and cheaper than Electrify America, even with membership ($.36 v $.42). Lots of variety of cars coming through. No problems for anyone.

Page, AZ has fast-ish chargers now! This is a big deal for North-South transits from Az into UT or CO. It used to be very thin through here requiring very conservative speeds to preserve range.

First time in history, an oil crisis isn’t strengthening the system—it’s accelerating the exit

1973, 1979, 2008… every shock reinforced oil

This time? We’ve got an off-ramp: EVs, solar, batteries

Crisis → electrify → less oil

The system doesn’t recover… it gets replaced #Bettrification

Same thing happens during hurricanes. Call this an oil war storm.

I’ve posted a few of my own cross-country EV roadtrips in recent years. Will do it again for two more trips this summer, likely highlighting the low cost compared to fossil fuel priced trips during yet another US Oil War in the Middle East.

I wonder if their timeline will accelerate as the price of LNG climbs as a result of the US war with Iran.

I wonder how much the US war with Iran will juice these numbers in coming months as oil/fuel prices spike.

Contributor: Even Saudi Arabia is focused on solar energy. Will the U.S. be left behind? — Los Angeles Times The rise of China as the world's clean-energy superpower and the ambitions of oil-rich Middle East countries show that the U.S. is thinking small.

Plainly stated, “The rise of China as the clean energy superpower and the ambitions of a country like Saudi Arabia show that the U.S. is thinking small. The Trump administration seems to be thinking about the next three years while rival nations are thinking about the next three decades.”

How our $36 trillion debt came to be A look back at the history of the national debt, and what the GOP’s new budget bill might mean for the debt going forward.

One of my favorite refrains from Kai Ryssdal: “As we’ve said before at Marketplace, no tax cut in the history of tax cuts has ever paid for itself.”

Tes Kia EV6 as the only car charging at an Electrify America charging station. An RV and Live’s road sign in the background.

In my latest cross-country EV road trip, I’m struck by how uncrowded the chargers are. Maybe I have great timing? Maybe there’s just less travel happening in this economy? Maybe there are finally enough chargers to alleviate the crowding and wait times I used to experience.

Well, one could say that the silver lining from the actions of our Moron in Chief is that with a global recession we also usually see a reduction in energy consumption, and therefore a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. So, yay?
