👏 Canada 👏 Post 👏 is 👏 a 👏 public 👏 service 👏
Nothing proves how capitalism has brain rotted everyone than thinking the post office, hospitals, public transit, libraries, etc. need to turn a profit to be worthwhile.
The way profit maxxing corpo culture has invaded every form of art through algorithms pushing people into daily posting is really weighing on me lately. Efficiency and regularity of making "content" being prized above all else feels so grim, man.
The same week the NYTimes was devoting its significant resources to producing this ridiculous piece about Lauren Sanchez Bezos's call for rich people to not worry and be happy, Ryan Hass, an independent journalist in Oregon, was investigating this horrifying story about a death in an Amazon plant.

there is no politician so irreplaceable that we must overlook sexual misconduct because nobody else could possibly fill their shoes
I'm moonscrolling
Add to this environmental pollution, online misinformation, and denying children a proper education.
This should be illegal
@ironspike.bsky.social thank you for reposting that. My partner just read about titmouse using AI for the next season of angry birds and I think this helped brighten a pretty sad moment. Here's to all the animators still making things. You're all amazing.
I know Carney is conservative. But accepting this floor crossing shows an absolutely astonishing deficit in values and judgement
If *this* Conservative feels seen and welcomed by Carney's Liberals, I don't know what further proof you need that Carney is a Liberal in name only.

Things that help calm the nervous system, quickly:
- Box breathing (in for 4, hold for 4, out for 4, hold for 4, repeat)
- Immerse your face in cold water (activates mammalian dive reflex)
- Humming (stimulates vagus nerve)
- Exercise (anything helps, outside even better)
- Impeachment and removal

True true, points for that
There are thousands of colonial-era human remains, including skulls, skeletons, mummies, hair and teeth, in European collections…A small portion were gathered through archaeological looting or taken as trophies from colonized lands in Africa, Asia and Oceania.
This one is also not a working zamboni, we were had by the portmanteau name :(

what being alive currently feels like
Also a perennial reminder that in times of fast-moving news, a TON of unverified photos, videos, audio, and 'news stories' circulate, go viral, and perpetuate misinformation. Please take time to double-check things before posting and/or sharing! Verifying reports can take time.
i think we should be clear that just because the astronauts did not immediately declare the moon haunted, does not mean it is not haunted
it may mean that the astronauts are now themselves haunted
have we prepared for this eventuality and if so how
not only are wire services the core of an enormous amount of reporting, AP plays a very specific and authoritative role in election calling
Mexico’s overwintering monarch population grew 64% this winter, with butterflies covering their largest area of forest since 2018. The recovery remains fragile, but suggests there’s been a positive impact from conservation efforts in the butterflies’ core habitat. buff.ly/XoPKQ9d

The NAC one lately has been making my skin crawl!!
This is the right way to think about public debt. It's about trajectories and sustainability.
Last week, Alto’s CEO confirmed that “real construction” won’t start until 2030, a year later than the Liberals originally announced in December. He also confirmed that it would take seven years just to build the section between Ottawa and Montreal. By comparison, the entire Canadian Pacific Railway, which linked the country from coast to coast, was built in just four years.
And...... *how* was the entire Canadian Pacific Railway built in just four years, Pierre
fool me once, please don’t do that. fool me twice, c’mon man not again, i asked nicely
We could have built Energy East, Northern Gateway, and Keystone XL and we'd *still* be paying these gas prices. Why? Because oil is a global market.
You'd think Conservatives would understand how capitalism works -- and that they're effectively asking for a National Energy Program here.
