i do really like the new track but very agreed overall. geogaddi is pretty good but most of their work is pretty hit or miss. they occupy the same space as afx where theyve somehow managed to capture people who dont listen to much electronic music into thinking theyre uniquely great/innovative

This is also kinda why j-core is treated like a genre even if its usually just some mix of freeform and hardtek and happy hardcore and also why that also includes artcore which is pretty distant compositionally

I do think an insularity very much exists for a listener base in a scene or genre but especially any derived from fandom culture. It’s probably more likely that someone looking for furry rave adjacent stuff has heard those compared to even something like vsnares, let alone a terminal11 or xanopticon

fascinated by the idea of someone finding Morrowind of all things too pedestrian and easy and then watching western rpgs become what they have in the last 25 years lol

Like me, do you often wish you could dance and cackle at the same time? Do you wish for mashups, hard dance, and more in the club? Welcome to Sounds of Clowns.

most of them are not good tbh and essentially just lazy midislaps. i was pretty much in the same boat however i stumbled onto seemingly the only channel in this niche which has a pretty good hitrate (and also mostly tends to bill them as "faithful covers" instead) www.youtube.com/watch?v=PqHY...

kuru kuru kururin, pokemon mystery dungeon, balatro (although it's finally starting to wear out a bit as i go for gold stake completionism and just have to play high card/pair over and over). i guess ufo 50 if you count the game-hopping aspect of that

256gb for $799, 512gb for $999

256gb for $799, 512gb for $999

i went to check because apple is usually awful about overcharging for storage and 200 dollars for +256 gb of storage on an iphone is insane highway robbery

If we had a healthier culture of artists willing to be loud about their influences, I don’t think genre would persist. “derivative” is a sin every single artist is guilty of. Genre is just a clunky way of finding similar stuff, and going to the source is always going to be the best way to know that.

I don’t mind genre as a concept because I think everything is all influence and creating something without inspiration is a fools errand and it helps group these. but the genres we have are definitely a result of some extremely bad and blatant redlining and no one really seems to care all that much.

as stated on bandcamp, most of these were made last year before i got distracted with other projects, oops! but i Hate having things sit in my "completed music" folder forever so i got it in a state where it felt ready to release. obv not a "mainline" album but hopefully you have fun with it!

very early on in making music i somehow picked up from one of these that clipping or even mastering loud with a compressor was illegal because it was "brickwalling the master" and the instant i gave that up my music got 1000x better (i was making hardcore rave music)

(a very possible reality too is that they are actually having fun, but the act of having fun doesnt really get vocalized compared to "i fucking hate [teammate/enemy/hero]")

ive tried asking and i just get non-answers, but like why would you play a game that consistently pisses you off and youre always mad about (this can apply to things like LoL and csgo too). is it just to twiddle thumbs in a vc with friends

started very lightly playing overwatch again so i can do *something* with friends (they play a lot of it) and it actually seems pretty vaguely ok now

however this is only if you can detatch yourself and not get mad at it because i still feel many of them are not even having fun playing it lol

this synchronicity feels almost too prescient/important to the times which leads me to believe i have to be unconsciously stealing it from someone else. But its very observably true that you need someone to offer pushback or your brain breaks really badly

maybe this has been said before but with both chatgpt psychosis and every billionaire being insane i think being surrounded by yes men is probably bad if you want your brain to function

As it stands now it's even easier than before for malicious rightsholders to go thru their whole catalogue now and send out takedowns.

I went through and requested to hide connections on everything yesterday and they've already gone through. I recommend any artist who samples should do the same.

5. Open the "Third Parties" drop-down
6. Uncheck "Show all Whosampled Song Connections for this track"
7. Click Submit in the bottom right
8. Repeat steps 3-7 for every song you have that lists samples.

This is how you do it, it's in Spotify for Artists. Detailed steps are in the alt text.

It's extremely annoying you have to do this manually for every song, and hopefully someone makes a script for it, but if you want to protect yourself this is probably the best thing to do as soon as you can.

yeah ok this is Definitely a big concern

if you sample a lot (vaporwave, mashup, house, etc...) and you have a presence on whosampled, Spotify is probably currently telling on you with their new SongDNA feature.

The best thing to do is to go into Spotify for artists and disable it for every song.
