Opinion | The Trump Administration Is Coming After Birth Control Access in a Terrifying New Way

Title X, the 1st Fed. program dedicated to family planning has prevented ~20M unintended pregnancies, providing women with free/low-cost birth control. It significantly reduced child poverty. Now HHS tells Title X clinics to return to the "rhythm method."

These descriptions are more for the author, cementing the look for the scene before writing it.

The midterms are not a done deal, is what I am saying. We've witnessed Americans choose Trump & his ilk twice now, and so we know that Americans aren't just *capable* of making terrible choices & lying to themselves in order to grasp at a BS path, but that it is their most common insinct to do so.

Currently watching The Firm (1993) a quaint thriller set in a weird alternate universe where the Department of Justice investigates law firms for money laundering for criminals.

I keep thinking about how now is going to be written in a future high school American History book.

And this will be part of it.

A belted galloway cow walking into the mist, towards a bold, unpredictable future.

A belted galloway cow walking into the mist, towards a bold, unpredictable future.

“So it was, on that misty morning, that Brenda set off for the capital. She knew not what she would find there, only that the time had come to move on - away from small-minded rural attitudes and people who called her ‘Oreo’ and ‘the wide panda’ - to seek a more fulfilling life.”

Then again, I worry how the bursting into flames interpretation would be twisted.

Nah, keep hoping. Maybe we can manifest it if enough of us lean into it!

It is SO much both. I believe we are on the right side and will eventually win back our country, but I really fear how bad it will get before that happens. If only people would wake up, we could stop it right now!

Got my fix of uplifting Sunday Musings from @dianabutlerbass.bsky.social. Got my serving of infuriating Sunday talk show clips. Now on to a going away party for one of my best friends.

Emotions are emoting today.

1. I unequivocally agree with you

2. From my experience, some people got seriously turned off "news" because of all the screaming and disagreement in the past. Also, the disinformation makes them scared to trust anything. So they shut it ALL out.

so, sure, we need better local news, we need better national coverage, we need liberals to do more work to communicate, but there's not a ton of evidence that there's an enthusiastic market for this shit in rural america and there's a lot of suggestion that even the idea of it is held in contempt

news media — particularly politics — is about at the poorest state i can ever remember, but rural and cosmopolitan americans have more equal access to that news than at any other point in history, and it is not unreasonable to draw inferences about what each believe based on what they watch and read

Side note: I've been floored at the superior reporting from Wired this past 18 months. Couldn't do without it!

Hegseth's Pentagon prayer sounds like 'Pulp Fiction' line; here's why During a prayer at the Pentagon on Wednesday, Pete Hegseth appeared to paraphrase "Pulp Fiction" rather than the real Ezekiel 27:17 Bible verse.

Really getting tired of these faux Christians defaming my religion. Not only is Hegseth misquoting Bible passages to justify military aggression, he apparently has not read the New Testament at all.

What a waste.
