Okay, but are they all as rhythm-impaired as I am?

I’m going for some mint chocolate chip ice cream instead of booze, but the rationale works either way.

When you read a lot, I’ve found, it’s rare to find a story that’s actually surprising.

That sounds like a fun book.

A bay window with nine flower pots containing a couple large jade plants, another houseplant, and seedlings for beans, cucumbers, and tomatoes.

Got some cucumbers, tomatoes, and beans repotted. They’ll go outside once I’m more sure they won’t freeze their little roots off.

Forgiving you, understanding why you are the way you are, does not mean I’m opening a door to you. And that’s okay. Maybe you really are a better person now. Maybe I don’t have to trust you, regardless.

(This post brought to you by flying monkey apologies.)

A lot of people confuse forgiving someone with allowing things to go back to the (messed up) patterns from before. Breaking free of a narcissistic system often means going no contact. That’s not about grudges or punishment. It’s about safety.

I would write for Scarecrow & Mrs. King, and read what you wrote as well. So there’s two of us, at least.

We’ve been getting the same kind of messages from NYSEG, for approximately the same average usage. It’s helpful to see that we’re not wild outliers of electrical binging.

So true. I live in a place where there are regular, severe snowstorms. And when shit hits the fan, you take care of people in whatever way you can. Anything else is asshole territory.

A book, or a knitting/crochet project, and I’m set for a couple hours. Plus, no stress.

Always a good idea not to kill your spouse accidentally!

We’re finding that going at off-peak season makes it a lot less crowded. There are some things that aren’t open (we couldn’t do Cadillac Mountain in Acadia in early May), but the trade off of not getting trampled is nice

We’re basically all Melville at this point.

I need to see Yosemite and Yellowstone at some point. I think Grand Teton is higher on my list, though.

Sweet! We went to Cuyahoga earlier in the month, and it’s a very pretty drive along the river.

We just went to Arches in January, and the colors are just unworldly!

The state parks here in NY are fabulous! Niagara Falls and Letchworth are particular favorites of mine.

As a fan of 19th century British literature, I agree heartily!

It’s national park week! I love visiting national parks—some of my favorites are Acadia, Grand Canyon, Point Reyes National Seashore, and Dinosaur National Monument.

My dream park to visit is Isle Royale.

What about you? What’s your favorite #NationalPark?

I’ve made oatmeal cookies with white chocolate chips, dried cranberries, and macadamia nuts. Those were tasty. Yours look good, too. 10/10, would attempt to sneak one.

There’s rarely a perfect match, especially when we’re talking about people who resist any kind of diagnosis or treatment or accountability. It’s a shitty way to have to grow up, regardless.
