The tactic comes in response to incumbent Monica de la Cruz's (TX-15) dig at the Pulido's celebrity status saying that the choice this November "isn’t about who you want performing at your niece’s quinceañera. It’s about who you trust with your family’s future."
I spoke with the Texas Tribune about democratic congressional candidate Bobby Pulido's appearances at quinceañeras across the district.
The article highlights how Mexican American culture remains a powerful tool to drive political interest in south Texas.

Today I was a guest on NPR’s On Point for an episode discussing the current state of the Texas Senate race. I shared my insights on the shifting politics of the Rio Grande Valley and the roll of south Texas voters in the state’s political landscape.

Conspicuously absent as a signatory on an amicus brief in the SCOTUS birthright citizenship case: Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-TX)
As his constituent, I'm curious as to why he abstained when so many of his other TX Democratic colleagues added their names.

Although Latinxs cannot be said to support the BLM movement at levels on par with Black Americans, Latinxs (along with Asian Americans) rate the BLM
movement more warmly than Whites and about half of all Latinxs report supporting the movement’s goals. 6/7
...and within Latinx communities are most consistently inclined to support multiracial coalitions. I also find some contrasting effects btw the role of inter- and intragroup commonality which underscores the opportunities & challenges for Latinx–Black coalitions. 5/7
I find that although some of Latinxs’ personal experiences with discrimination (especially at the hands of police) are associated with increased support for the BLM movement, Latinxs with a consciousness of Blacks’ struggle with racial discrimination in the U.S... 4/7
My article explores how multiple dimensions of Latinx racial group consciousness (perceptions of discrimination, intra- and intergroup commonality, and racial identity) shape their cross- racial alliances with Black social movements. 3/7
I’m honored to have this article included in a special issue commemorating the 30th Anniversary of the Paula McClain’s “Can We All Get Along? Racial and Ethnic Minorities in American Politics?,” coauthored first with Stewart, Jr., and later with Johnson-Carew. 2/7

Thank you to the brave souls (average citizens) who continue to peacefully document everything to hold a rogue agency accountable in Minneapolis. They’re literally risking their lives to ensure basic transparency of our government.
Scary prospect…
