sgrafitto patterns of warsaw pt. ii
Color wide angle shot of a large terra cotta and tan brick building, taken from across the street. The base is of cream, fluted terra cotta with large show window that read things like REMOVALS, PACKING or SHIPPING over them in green capital letters. The center bay is set back and ornamented by a large expanse of cream terra cotta and a truly unique entrance reached by climbing three stairs. Above the building's base, five skinny ribbons of windows and checkerboard brick spandrels shoot upwards, ending in a point near the roofline.
Color photo of the set back entrance to the building. A pointy tripartite entrance ornamented in polychrome terra cotta designs and intricate grillwork is centered between two elongated quatrefoil windows filled with diamond pane glass and outlined in green terra cotta scalloped leaves on a white glazed terra cotta background.
Color detail of polychrome terra cotta ornamenting a building's entrance. In the center is a column featuring green and pink scroll-like elements that are stacked and separated by cream horizontal bands. On either side is a grill, its metal arms criss-crossing to create geometric patterns. A border of light green terra cotta leaves snakes up from the bottom left and continues up and out of the frame.
Color detail of the word SHIPPING in dark green three dimensional capital letters above one of the large, first floor windows and underneath a course of light green, scalloped leaves.
Former Jackson Storage & Moving Co of La Grange, IL -- you in danger, girl. AGAIN. Thought saved, this building is again up for demo, & this time a reprieve will not be coming.
Jackson was rolling in dough by the 20s, & hired warehouse king John Kingsley to modernize this older building in 1924.

Love the Catholic Social Teaching window at St. John’s in Utica, featuring Pope Leo XIII holding Rerum Novarum, which talks about the right of workers to form unions.
At the the bottom are workers of various kinds and in the middle are union members and management reaching an accord.
