Fascinating, Zelensky coming out publicly more and more and saying that Trump is working with/for Putin. The Ukrainians seem to have determined that telling the truth is preferable to lying to please Trump.

'When we come together and make our voices heard, then we are really powerful'

Speaking at the recent Democracy in Europe Movement (@diem25.org) event in London, economist and author Grace Blakeley tells New Internationalist why resistance is no longer a slogan: it is a condition for survival.

Stop for a second and consider that the President of the United States has posted a market-moving statement on his own social media platform in ALL CAPS with the typo "WITCH WILL"

4 weeks ago 96 20 19 2

Is it worth the paper - or 'Truth Social'- it's (poorly) written on?

Playing markets?
#TACO?
Has Iranian regime confirmed this?
Perhaps he listened to Starmer about de-escalation?

ALL are possibilities?

Is Trump the most untrustworthy, unreliable, unhinged & dangerously irresponsible POTUS ever?

So it turns out Reform are laundering their donations through crypto, before converting them into cash, hiding the original source of the money.

So who is really funding Nigel Farage and Reform UK?

Today, I am older than my father was when he died. He was a good man, who lost his mother when he was 10, shed blood for his country in the cause of fighting fascism, spent 3 years being overworked and undernourished as a PoW, and raised 5 children.

Is the US tired of all the "winning" Trump's giving them yet?

A new poem, written last night.

*Spring Evening Sunset*

Friday exhausted, we
watch slow-departing trains
And information boards,

Oblivious, heedless,
ignoring the violent west
set the horizon ablaze.

The tracks smelt fire
from the red light
of a dying sun.

German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius:

“There will be no military participation.. We have a situation which we did not provoke.. This war started without any consultations.. What does Trump expect from a handful of European frigates in Strait of Hormuz that the mighty US Navy can't manage alone?"

A friend wrote to me this week to say he sees me in a "prophetical light".
He was talking about a poem I wrote in 2016, about the Putin-Trump post-Brexit world.
To quote Wilfred Owen, "All a poet can do today is warn."
I think it's the only poem by me that rhymes, btw.

Trump is stupid, mad, dangerous, rich, and ridiculously powerful, but most of all ... the stupid bit. That's what should worry us most.

In praise of Jeremy Bowen His Today programme monologue on Trump, war in Iran, and the history of the Middle East was exactly how the BBC should be reporting on the world.

A very good piece by Mic Wright in praise of Jeremy Bowen. Jeremy believes journalism is witnessing, then telling the truth about what you've witnessed. He's right.

@stellacreasy.bsky.social: "The performative cruelty of repeatedly demanding that refugees prove they are still refugees – or else face deportation – cannot be understated. It is also a waste of money given that so few refugees, when retested, will change status."
