For me I used to love collecting muñecas quitapenas (worry dolls) from Guate and sorpresas from El Salvador.
My contributions for BHM 2026 were inspired by The Last Black Man in San Francisco. This truly encapsulates what it feels like to be hurt by something you deeply love (and will continue to love like SF). I also didn’t realize that I used 9er’s colors, but I’m really no football fan
I was walking around a creek that connects to the ocean and remembered being a kid and wanting to draw beautiful places around me. And now I get to do that… it was a wonderful healing-feeling to just capture a moment for myself with paper and ink. 🖋️
Been thinking how I haven’t shared too many of my scrawls on the internet. Social media tricked my brain and spirit into thinking I need to curate every sketch to be “perfect” for others to enjoy.
Drawing by hand really cures my woes for the moment. I hope to get to make more things with just my inks and paper even more this year. 📝
