A recommendation. BANSHEE CHAPTER (2013) is an independant faux doc / found footage horror gem that crafts an ambitious narrative out of number stations, mk ultra, gonzo journalism and cosmic horror. It rules and is actually really fucking scary.

I got to meet the guy in person and got a signed print version of this by him and a non goosebumps work. Hes a pretty chill guy. I got to tell about him about goosebumps covers from international translations which he never heard about and showed him pics on my phone. Japan's art goes pretty hard.

From my experience of drawing sound effects by hand, I realised that you can easily make font-based sound effects more exciting as well—by exercising intentionality and control.

Here's some examples.

mildly obsessed with Golly! Ghost! (1991), a namco light gun shooter that uses the pepper's ghost effect to overlay ghostly enemies on top of a physical diorama inside the cabinet!

it's even been photographed and ported to MAME, see right screenshot!
