I urge every newsroom and company that requires people come into the office think long and hard right now about just how exclusionary your policy is and whose life you could improve just by offering them work where they're at. Hire based on talent, not location.

It sucks that the default for helping laid off journalists has become making fundraisers because none of us have the hiring power or assigning capacity or the jobs for that matter to do anything else.

Chicago Woman Shot 5 Times By Border Agents Will Testify In Washington Next Week Marimar Martinez will speak at a federal forum on immigration agents' use of force as she fights to unseal evidence in her now-dropped prosecution.

Marimar Martinez is a hero.
