Ah hah!
This was the previous post! It wasn't paintly plagiarism in 1959, after all! It was just a slip with cutting and pasting the label!
So I'm not wanting to stir any pot here, but give this link a click...
Well, Tucker, tell you what: Put things back the way they were before your messed it all up, and then we can talk over what happens next. But until then, nothing's changed, even if you think you have.
BE AHEAD OF ALL PARTING Rainer Maria Rilke (translated by Anita Barrows and Joanna Macy) Be ahead of all parting, as if it had already happened, like winter, which even now is passing. For beneath the winter is a winter so endless that to survive it at all is a triumph of the heart. Be forever dead in Eurydice, and climb back singing. Climb praising as you return to connection. Here among the disappearing, in the realm of the transient, be a ringing glass that shatters as it rings. Be. And, at the same time, know what it is not to be. That emptiness inside you allows you to vibrate in resonance with your world. Use it for once. To all that has run its course. and to the vast unsayable numbers of beings abounding in Nature, add yourself gladly, and cancel the cost.

Yup. Best way to get people to respect the First Amendment is to print its text on something you blow your nose into. Brilliant move.
Those spoiled DOGE brats working with Musk and Rubio to destroy USAID practically overnight must never be allowed to forget the singular accomplishment of their lives was giving the Holocaust a run for its money in total deaths.
This is an excellent (and upsetting) column…but this wasn't all Trump.

Jean Charest: "We're not saying to the Americans they absolutely need us. What we are saying is you're not going to get a better partner in trade than Canada."
Even used that way, "usufruct" applies: The Earth is ours to use as we live on it, and our obligation to the next generations is to pass it on "unmortgaged" by debts or damage they are left to pay off and clean up ― and to especially not pass it on as irreparable ruins they can but live among.
/3
I first read it during my undergrad in a letter Jefferson had written to Madison shortly before that in 1789: "The earth belongs in usufruct to the living."
Some now present this as if J. were enviro-aware, but in context he was complaining about inheriting mortgages from previous generations. /2
A definition page in the online Collins dictionary: usufruct in British English noun the right to use and derive profit from a piece of property belonging to another, provided the property itself remains undiminished and uninjured in any way Derived forms usufructuary noun, adjective Word origin C17: from Late Latin ūsūfrūctus, from Latin ūsus use + frūctus enjoyment
Good word for Earth Day, even if it's a bit clunky.
It's the right to use (usus) and draw profit from (fructus) an object or piece of land ― (here's the important part) on the condition it not be damaged or deminished by this use.
The right to do the last bit (or sell or give away) is "abusus"

Happy #EarthDay from some my favourite corners of the Earth near(ish) to where I live. I know everything is dark and overwhelming these days, but I hope this can bring you a little light and a reminder of the incredible beauty we share this planet with.

Pretty sure it's fake. I chased this earlier this week. It's not from Troot Social, and the wording doesn't show up in searches of his X account. Others found the same. Sad we just can't be sure on the face of it with him.

One of them is wrong.
A color action photo shows Guy Lafleur skating on the ice during a hockey game. He is wearing a red Montreal Canadiens uniform with blue and white striping and the number 10 on his sleeve. He leans forward while controlling the puck with his stick, his skates angled as he moves across the ice. The boards and glass are visible behind him, with a blurred crowd in the background.
On this day in 2022, Guy Lafleur died.
Born in 1951, in his Hall of Fame career he won five Stanley Cups, three Art Ross, two Harts, three Lester B. Pearsons and a Conn Smythe. He remains the Montreal Canadiens leading scorer with 1,246 points.
Today, @ICEgov got around to deleting questions I sent for the article below -- which was published in August 2025 (!!!) -- without ever reading them.
This is why reporters need to ferret out stories.
Thanks for all your work, James Covington!
