What strikes me is that in both instances of verh/forgebracht it looks like he was overwriting another letter with the f/h. Maybe a v, n or a. In the second instance it even looks like he had used new ink on the h/f and the b. Maybe that's why the letter looks so odd.

Can you add a picture of another instance of this word? It looks like this might be a lower case Kurrent "h" instead of an "f", making this "verhor" instead of "hervor". Nearly seems like a conscious Verballhornung.
