There is no clear line. Life is not made of zeroes and ones. The speculation of a universal foundation (symmetry is omnipresent in nature) with the addition of individuality might be a good approximation. Tastes are cultivated by the environment, personal experiences, etc. I know mine was:)

I can agree on this one. A classic object of beauty is a human face. While we all agree on preferring symmetry, everybody goes for a different detail: the size of the nose, mouth, eyes, etc. The most commercial cover of a typical magazine will display a human face, but they will differ a lot. A lot!
