I hope me sharing this helps people feel a bit better about their own experiences with social media. Don't cater to trends... wait until trends cater to YOU😜 play the long game luvs

Like believe it or not stuff like these pieces of mine never did well when I first started (~2017) in comparison to the last few years, esp moving away from twt. Whenever I reached 1k ❤️s on something, it was something I had to strain myself to make perfect/appealing. This style comes naturally to me

I wonder if this is a response to the polished (yet uncanny) look of AI generated art? Or perhaps the trends in huge art industries for the past decade? Like for instance, we see how Disney no longer has the grapple it once did in animation. All I know is people like my Shapes more than they used to

You had some unique artists still breaking out despite that of course, but it's because they drew a more anime-inspired style, and that did pretty well too. If not that, then people liked paintings a lot, especially entire scenes

The sort of thing that gets you numbers these days is playing into the visual monikers of tapestry and manuscript imagery, whereas back then this wasn't really the case. Mostly in furry. The most relevant artists at the time of me joining the community were influenced by the great Disney animators

I definitely feel as if now I am on the same playing field as other artists in the scene despite taking a step back from making art due to this cultural shift. I've also noticed people have taken an interest to (western European) medieval aesthetics on the internet in general

I saw someone write a self-analytical thinkpiece about the evolution of furry art trends and I do think it's fascinating how we're moving away from Disney-esque styles and centering our focus on art styles that have usually gone unnoticed due to being "unpolished" or whatever

'Girl Reading in a Hammock,' (1910) is a minor masterpiece in Robert Graafland's body of work. The picture was painted in his Italianate garden in Limburg, a place where he left the influences of the Hague School and adopted the colourful influences of the French Impressionists.

Now I can be lazy for the rest of the week😌 sent out more emails. Also I saw a turtle and a hawk the other day, and a bluejay perched outside my window while I was doing a tarot reading

Very kewl considering the cards fit what bluejays represent really well with respect to the query

FYI if you're calling any federally owned office after 5PM you go straight to voicemail. Make sure to state your legal name, phone number, and address so they can tally the call👍try to speak fast too. 30 seconds or less, otherwise your call is going to get cut off

If you missed this week's excellent talk on folklore and horror in Indo-Caribbean and Métis cultures... you can find it here!

It was a great talk and a good introduction to the subject (with a whole slide worth of author recommendations!)
