Staff cuts at federal health agencies have begun | CNN Some employees at US health agencies have started receiving notice that their jobs are being cut.

This is not a serious way to govern or run an organization:

"What is really galling and hard is that supervisors and leaders aren’t being told anything, they just have to wait and see which of their staff get notices.”

First measles death reported in the West Texas outbreak is school-aged child | CNN The first measles death in the growing outbreak in West Texas was a school-aged child.

Measles cases in New Mexico and Texas, and now a tragic and avoidable death is heartbreaking. We need public health leadership that can help us bring our friends, loved ones, and community members back to safe and effective vaccines - not drive them away! www.cnn.com/2025/02/26/h...

The United States is less secure without its deployed USAID Force. Tonight I am left speechless by this action and its reverberating impact for us all. USAID is an indispensable part of our national security and the face of America in the world. Please honor our USAID Force tonight. 🧵

Ten years ago, during the West Africa #Ebola outbreak, we had no vaccines—and over 11,000 lives were lost as the virus spread across the region.

Today, we have life-saving vaccines that can help contain outbreaks and protect communities. Science saves lives! #VaccinesWork

Hi!

The preliminary sequence from the H5N1 human case in British Columbia has been posted and it is not good news. The virus potentially has a quasispecies at HA residue 226 (H3 numbering). This is bad news because we know that mutations at residue 226 can increase binding to human receptors. 1/
