Looks like effectively Australia is helping Russia break sanctions by buying refined products from India.

Yeah there’s no downgrade back to the old one I had for a bit more storage. So had to cancel Gemini and then buy another 100gb plan I paid an annual price for a couple of months ago...

Newtown Social Club, Fitzroy about 2002. I’d heard it was invented there so interested if anyone else can take it back further.

"Just figured out where these fake tariff rates come from. They didn't actually calculate tariff rates + non-tariff barriers, as they say they did. Instead, for every country, they just took our trade deficit with that country and divided it by the country's exports to us.

I was just discussing this scenario as the biggest danger - we decided the split of codes means you’d never get a full country populist from footy.. fingers crossed eh?

This is where Albanese should be on the front foot - tying Dutton to Trump and Musk. But he seems to be too scared.

Good, but I’d suggest ditch the ‘progressive’ ‘regressive’ - say ‘where the rich pay more’ to ‘where the poor pay more’

Does the use of average speed therefore (somewhat murkily) combine the factors - speed is there but people don’t use it because it’s too expensive. Maybe a better metric would be $/MBit/s and av. distance from exchange to factor the Aus geographics vs say Singapore. It’s definitely pricey tho.

Victoria told to increase prisoner pay The work offered to people in prison in Victoria is often “menial and repetitive”, with rates of pay less than 4 percent of the minimum wage. A new expert report has called for this to change.

Although maybe they don’t have to do such life threatening work, pay rates for prisoners are quite similar in Victoria.. max $8.95 a day. Just terrible. thejusticemap.substack.com/p/victoria-t...

It’s occurring to me that the whole crypto thing is on this fact/fiction self interpretation continuum and may be feeding it. The idea that if enough people decide that performing meaningless calculations has value, then it may as well be the same as real money…

That’s true but it’s not the point of the OP who felt that their material was being used to train OpenAI’s models and restricting distribution for that reason. You make a fair argument that the student doing this is lazy, but a different one so I think the comment you’re responding to stands.

If you use it to just tell you the answer, sure. If you use it to tell you lines of reasoning and how to justify the answer, validate, poke and prod for alternatives, it’s quite possible to use it as you would a study partner.

Dude, our actual flag has another flag in it.
