Some might be familiar with Schweinfurt, as it featured in the series "Masters of the Air". The city was the target of 22 air raids due to it being a major ball bearing manufacturer (and still is today). At the end of the war, around 40% of the city and 80% of the industrial zone was destroyed.

Some more photos from the family archives. This time with a newspaper clipping about the allied bombing raid from the 9th of October, 1944. My great grandfather had a radio and camera shop, and took/developed these highly sensitive photos.
Rest in Power ✊🏻
A remnant from a different era. Sadly, someone felt it necessary to vanadlise it a few years ago.
Went through some family photos on the weekend and came across this interesting set

Very chuffed with this photo - primarily because this vantage point is exceptionally rare to get to (unless you are using a drone)
Happy Easter
Visited Eisenhüttenstadt yesterday and had a chance to look at the very well curated exhibition about the contradictions of the “international solidarity” in the GDR.
The socialist classicist city hall of Eisenhüttenstadt. Built in 1953 when the city was still known as Stalinstadt - it was meant to be one of several monumental buildings in the city, though it was the only one ever completed.
The kids are off to visit their grandparents in Hungary today. As much as they enjoy it - my stomach is always in knots. There's probably a good reason why their mother only uses their German passports when they travel there.
Spent a lot of time in Zehlendorf this week - what a weird slice of (West) Berlin. Super pretty and chill, but so very different from our Kiez in the far east. Also not a huge fan of the yuppies and "expats" there...
Things I find in the washing machine filter. Didn't realize I was raising victorian street urchins.
Mirror Mirror on the wall
Tbh - Italian fans got lucky with not qualifying yesterday. At least they don't have to find excuses to support this years bullshit world cup.
Not gonna lie - this is arguably one of the nicest rolls of film I've developed recently. 38 panoramic shots on one roll of film 😘
Cameras that leave the film lead like this after rewinding 🙏🏻
One of those rare moments traveling on a completely empty G Series Ubahn ♥️
Had a lovely breakfast with the daughter this morning - and enjoyed the stunning view #berlin

An interesting find in my grandfather's photos: The 1918 Alsace-Lorraine monument at the Clairière de l'Armistice, taken shortly before/after the french capitulation in June 1940. The memorial was then destroyed be the Nazis, and replaced with a replica by the French in 1950.
