This new ADA compliant gangway will provide universal water access for all users.
South Cove Middle Dock ADA Gangway Float
The ADA Gangway Float was replaced with a more robust design. During the series of large storms in 2025 the ADA dock connection severed from the main dock and in order to replace it, the whole ADA gangway had to be removed.
More Info β¬οΈ
The dock is now supported by strengthened and long-lasting pier piles.
South Cove East Dock
The timber pilings on this popular dock, used by swimmers and other waterboard sports, failed a little over a year ago. Staff worked quickly to complete the permitting specifications to get the project ready for construction.

Additionally, with feedback from Cal Adventure and Cal Sailing, a sanitary sewer line was installed to support their future needs.
Now, it is fully paved with intuitive pavement marking for a better organized, self-operated parking layout, ADA compliant, and surrounded by a mix of California Native and pollinator plants. A bioretention basin was constructed to clean the stormwater runoff from the parking area.
South Cove West Parking Lot
Just a few months ago, it was an unsightly gravel parking lot with at times chaotic parking issues.
More Info β¬οΈ
There are a lot more projects in the pipeline. In the next few months, we will celebrate the opening of the new D & E docks while projects like the K dock restroom and N parking lot will be under construction with even more projects on the horizon.
It was a great time celebrating the recently completed South Cove parking lot and dock improvements with @berkeleyca.gov staff, partner businesses and organizations, and the community at the waterfront!
