Graph of Apple’s market cap history
I did the math…
Over its tenure, Tim Cook grew Apple valuation x11, adding $3,653,000,000,000.
That's + $683,059,087 per DAY, including week ends.

How new Terms or use should be done: new terms presented (ideally with plain language summary of changes) when upgrading, with a clear choice to get the new version under the new terms, or keep the old version and the old terms.

Unannounced mandatory new terms after a version update in firefox. No way to keep using it without approving.
Tech industry doesn't understand consent, episode #151848
Easy to brag about upgrade rates when the pitch is "nice product you've got here, would be a pity if something happened to it…"
… honestly Apple should legally be prevented from neutering working products like that for no reason, esp in a point update. At the very least you should be warned about it before agreeing to the 26.4 iOS update. (Cc @atp.fm)
Apple Watch mail not being able to get mail.
PSA iOS 26.4 is rolling out, but if you have a watch that's not on watchOS 26, DO NOT UPDATE
It'll severely reduce your watch functionality: no coms w the phone, so calendar, mail, photos etc won't update anymore, despite the watch being on WiFi.
Desperately wishing for Music.app to allow me multiple windows/tabs on Mac.
So often I'd listen to an album, then want to quickly listen to some other thing before getting back to the album.
Single window make it super painful.

"The reviews can tell you what a computer is for. They have very little interest in what you might become because of one."
Kinda funny to see the review of the MacBook Neo saying "this is not for you if you want to do…. (Editing, composing,…)
Folks people (me included) have been doing all of these for decades on computers with 1/100 of the Neo's capacities.
How well can you* differentiate colours?

Screenshot os macOS Tahoe weather app
It's wild how Weather apps summarise.
A bit of rain at midnight, they dry all day, and even sunny most of the afternoon, yet the one icon is rain?!?
I care about what the weather is when I'm out and about during the day, not a few h at night…
Wonder if that's Californians finding rain concerning…
Very ugly pixelated icons in macOS dock
WTF is macOS (be)tahoe doing with dock icon resizing?!?
Really miss the work days when everything was nicely stored in a single project folder structure on a local network drive.
Now I need to figure out, is this on slack, confluence, jira, sharepoint, one drive, google drive, teams, or miro?
Screenshot of the quicktunes app
App purchase of the day: Quicktunes by @furnacecreek
Simple and clean, Classic iPod UI for Apple music.

Hint: it has nothing to do with this other app by the same company.
A bad application icon
I need to repport a crime against Icon Design.
Can anyone guess what app this icon is for?
(no cheating)
Bit of an exaggerated headline, but not one you want to see become mainstream perception. Well deserved though. #liquidAss

Real USB C 3 is wild on a phone. With a hub, Ethernet, External keyboard, mouse !!!, maybe even display.
I wonder if in a pinch with an external display I could work (ie Figma) without a "computer"
#iPhone17Pro
My phone is now, by far, the fasted computer I use. Faster than iPad, faster than personal laptop, faster than work laptop. #iPhone17Pro
The storage capacity (512GB) is insane. A HUNDRED original iPods in my pocket. #iPhone17Pro
The dynamic island is great, but the way it animate, like the new app opening animation, makes me physically sick, as if I had been on a roller coster.
I'm having to use the "reduce motion" setting, which unfortunately kills the "swipe up then right" gesture for quick app switch. #iPhone17Pro
I love the massive zoom, really opened up opportunities for shots either when out and about or even accross a large diner table.
The battery life improvement, moving from a 5yo 12 mini, is massive. I'm fighting the urge to charge it all the time as it's unnecessary.

I do not really notice the 120Hz refresh rate. I wouldn't know about it if I hadn't read about it.

Diagram by Luke Wroblewski showing how different on the screen are easy or hard to reach one handed on a large Phone
Moved on to a iPhone 17 Pro while my beloved 12 mini went on to finish his useful days in the countryside…
Main impression: Luke W(roblewski) was right. Using this large a phone one handed is painful so you don't :(
Two hands required.

Screenshot of a notification of the slack app Apple Watch, from a bot asking to join its enterprise project management software.
This is not the digital future we were promised.
Miro year in review showing first names of people I have worked with.
These "year in review" things every app seem to do really gross me out. Great way for them to show how much surveillance they do against you. They log everything you do, when you do it, who you do it with.
A favourite: if you opened an email attachement, outlook would silently save it in an obscure system folder, and never ask you to move it.
A colleague had worked for a w on it, and the deadline was that evening, but they couldn't find the file anymore.
I knew this should have been better.
True story: Microsoft software design is the reason I got interested in interaction design and made a career out of it.
I had to understand why smart colleagues kept struggling with their computers. Thanks for sucking Microsoft.
Alan Dye leaving right when Apple starts pushing iOS 26 to mainstream users (and hearing back from them) would be an odd coincidence.
Notable that many of most Mac assed Mac apps (Keynote, pPages, Numbers, Final Cut, iMovie...) haven't changed their design for #liquidglass.
I'm not sure if that's because liquiglass was rushed and there just hasn't been time, or if the people in charge of them refused to.
I'm not sure they will.
