My dad had coal sacks delivered back when I was a kid. He had a forge. He hoofed a sack over his back and struggled off with it. Fella who worked for him picked two up, one each hand, held them out in front of him and called "where do you want your coal boss"

In this case they had something like 5 vans that fitted under but 1 that didn't. So he'd be following usual route and forget the additional van height. Not excusing it but that was how. There needs to be a pre bridge height barrier I guess so get stuck there and is easier to fix than the bridge.

My granddad's firm was local to this. About 40 years ago one of his drivers hit this twice in two weeks in the same van. The second time he'd just picked it up from being repaired from hitting it the first time. It didn't have hi Vis back then.

I think many are clinging to large audience numbers there. Hopefully they'll migrate here. Where it's nicer.

Hayes looks to be probably the best braking system - so well thought out at every level. I can't help but love magura though. I'm going to get the MT trail and see how I go. I think it'll be enough brakes for my riding & price is decent.

Think I'll do the same. I left my account locked just so no one took my name. It's a shame as there's still things the pre-x twitter did better. Not least the timeline where BS need to do some work.

I've always liked these. With the right infrastructure, a modern version using the motors and batteries we have now would make lots of sense as a town & back vehicle.

It doesn't have to be the last post. Up to you. Honestly mate I've followed your account for ages and I really feel for what you're going through. It's hard to put into words but I think everyone here feels your grief and we're here for you.

Graphic showing a 9m track for metros can move as many people as a 175m wide road for cars.

Graphic showing a 9m track for metros can move as many people as a 175m wide road for cars.

To carry 50,000 people per hour in each direction, a city needs a 175m wide road for cars.

Even if those cars are electric.

And then there’s all the parking.

OR a city can move A LOT MORE people in a lot less space, with A LOT LESS public money, emissions, pollution, noise etc.

Choices.

Simple.

The boy had a skuttle bug before a balance bike. It's like 3 mini scooter wheels on legs that fold up into the seat platform so you can chuck it in the pushchair. I used to push him on his bug with the front wheels of the pushchair when he was tired skuttling it. Congratulations mate.

Let's talk magura brakes. I want my MTB to have lots of brakes so I can do endos and stuff. Currently the brakes suffice for pottering about but they're not that 100% bet-your-life reliable enough to really pin either wheel. Would these MT Trail Sport do the job you reckon?

This was a common theme when I was doing my own webby thing a few years back. "it'll get you loads of other work because this is going to be big" and my personal favourite freebie request was "it'll only take you five minutes." Like I had a magic wand or something.

Crikey. Sounds horrible. Hope the meds work mate and you feel better soon.

I think some of it is people using multi social management stuff. But agree that I don't care what's going on twitter.

You make a solid case for why drivers should be routinely retested to retain their licence.

It seemed with our one that it got rather political. The most car focused plan went forward while simultaneously claiming some green credentials. Hope yours goes better. Seems like you actually have some premium infrastructure in a few places there.

Do you know what's replacing it? We had similar situation locally with army navy flyover. They've decided to pull out the bike tunnel as well so we'll have to beg multiple times to cross the same roads.

20 mph needs to be limited by the road design - not a sign. With personal e-transport pending legalisation we need this infrastructure more than ever. There's a transport revolution in waiting only as the car industry is stifling it.

The single thing that'd improve cycling is infrastructure. There's nothing that'd make even a fraction of the difference that'd make. And you only have to look into Europe to see clear examples.

There's a wp plugin that will fix it but I can't remember what it's called. It will show the contextual image in links though.

I don't know why the bar end grips fell out of fashion. While I wouldn't want them on my actual MTB now, I add them to every commuter I get. Having grip options is lovely on a longer ride and easier up hills.

The seat clamp mount is what I wanted to buy but no one does it in a 30.2mm size.

I'm so sorry to read this. I don't know what to say man. I always found your tandem riding posts really inspirational seeing you guys together.

I'm not sure what rack I've got. Seems pretty decent. But the bike has no mounting points as it was designed for jumping over stuff. That's the issue.

1 year ago 0 0 2 0

Nah it's for a rear rack. The seat tube is an unusual size. In fact every tube is unusual in size and shape and structure. It's part of why I like it. But only way I could find to create mounts was via a clamp and bracket. Which hopefully will work.

When I decided I'd like to keep my old Saracen but fit a rack to it I didn't fully appreciate how involved it would get. I've now ordered p clamps, some motorbike fork clamps with an M6 centre mount and a rack mount bracket. I'll do my first project thread here once all the bits arrive.
