Every week I'm going to start posting about games I'm playing (Mostly to encourage me to crack on with other games that aren't Rainbow Six Siege.)

This week I'm playing Consume Me by @qdork.bsky.social. It's early days so no reactions yet but I'm looking forward to it!

Yea that bit felt a bit negative. I only didn’t like Skyrim coz I loved Morrowind so much so it’s my problem 🀣

I'm sure I've missed some stuff but I think this sums up a lot of my favourite games over the years!

I think for me, Morrowind was my "Bethesda game" and I played 100s of hours so Skyrim felt like the same thing reskinned...

But Morrowind is so weird and quirky which I love! It's much more unique like you say.

Played through The Last Express again on holiday. It's just a masterpiece and I cannot believe it was launched in 1997!

It creates a world that feels utterly real and one that you don't want to leave at the end.

Absolutely stunning and really one of a kind!

I'll let you take your judgement on whether this is still worth looking at but wanted to add the context in case it's useful (The AI disclosure is soooo small and doesn't say much).

Hey! For what it's worth, we started this project on Lua instead of Pulp & my brother was involved in creating the engine from scratch. He then unfortunately had to bail the project so I am using Claude to help me with some bugs & help me understand how to tweak some of the engine. Hope this helps!

Thanks! A big part of the design philosophy was knowing that most Shadowgate PD players didn't get very far...I want people to finish DVPD so reducing friction was important. I wondered whether it'd feel too simple at first but we had some great feedback in testing!

One of the biggest changes in Deja Vu PD is how verbs work. In classic point-and-click games, you pick a verb then test it on a subject. In this @play.date version, you click the subject and see available options. It’s faster and helps players make more progress on a handheld!

In a good adventure game, the challenge should be a sort of big-picture understanding of the world, how its systems work and what your goal is.

By limiting the scope of the player's actions to only what it might be useful to do, you let them get to that big picture understanding more quickly.

I hope so! Plus I think there are less unfair losses unlike Shadowgate which is savage from like the 2nd room :-D
