Everyone here already knows about this, obviously, but for the stragglers just getting back from a month in Ulaanbaatar, please go to Mark McMillan's brilliant Project Pendulum NOW. Yes, put down that fork, leave the table and just *glory* in it. Thank you. www.mcmweb.co.uk/project_pend...

You can see here how I lit my Blender model of "Mitch". Two lights either side of the camera. Nowhere near as nice as the Associated-Rediffusion set-up! I haven't got the black velvet material on the backing board here, so you can see shadows on it.

...it's also an excuse to plug @kiffr.bsky.social's article about that Associated-Rediffusion start-up in the first post. So there.

Ooh, there's also this brilliant piece of cover art from issue 3 of the A-R staff magazine 'Fusion' for Autumn 1958 by Joe McGrath.

The BBC's "V for Victory" tuning signal, developed during the last world war and still in use on shortwave when we recorded it in the 1960s. Auditory hauntology.

I’ve only played it four times, mind. 🤔

It’s not often that cover versions are better than the originals. These are absolutely first class. I don’t say that lightly. An exquisite exposition of a canon in its own right. Breathtaking. 🌹

This is the most timid Trump has ever been on the issue of Canada becoming the 51st US state. In the face of a self-assured Canadian PM who knows he has the backing of the entire Canadian people on this issue, Trump has been neutered.

One is left gasping at the sheer nerve of that.

Watched Doctor Who. Quite simply one of the best pieces of television – not even just the best DW – I've seen in about 20 years.

Terrific stuff. "You may have sat with an aged grandparent, listening to them rambling on trying to pick the right moment to interject. Perhaps there was something you needed to persuade them to agree to: a visit to the doctor, a signature on a power of attorney, or Article 5 of the Nato Treaty. "

I grew up with encyclopaedias. There’s real age prejudice there. It’s easier just to ask some helpful person to tell you.

No I just keep forgetting it exists.
