This Is Just To Say
I have turned off
the AI features
that were in
the update
and which
you were probably
hoping
to monetize
Fuck you
they were stupid
so unnecessary
and so annoying

I had a thought like "Oh yikes, Palantir is basically modern IG Farben" and I'm seeing that many others had that same thought π¬
If Martina McBride did drag, would her drag name be Martin McGroom?
Been a while since I wrote for After Burnout, but I'm back with a good one: afterburnout.co/p/breaking-o...
I'm announcing my pivot to PI: Private Intelligence. You pay me and I use my brain to make something. It's the hot new thing.
When I learn the details, every LLM tool is just three prompts in a trenchcoat and I find that hilarious. It's full on Scooby Doo villain unmasking each time.
The particle-wave aspect of LLMs:
1. You can be critical of how it's current being executed
2. You're interested in how the tech can be useful
I love that when explaining LLM billing, the most apt analogy is not having rollover minutes on a circa-1998 cell phone plan. Oh and there are no night and weekend minutes.
I totally love that part of my job now is sticking casino chips into the Anthropic slot machine and hoping something usable comes out π
My one-hour special βRick Steves Iran: Yesterday and Today,β which helps humanize 90 million Iranian people, is streaming free and ad-free at www.ricksteves.com/watch-iran.
"What can Democrats do?"
When the South Korean president attempted to declare martial law, South Korean lawmakers literally fought through tanks and military forces and climbed fences to get into their Parliament building to stop him.
So, you know, that.
They want to open an AI data center in an old crypto mining data center that was shut down for noise violations π So are we going to ignore they are practically speaking the same thing?
I went to two different libraries today and what a joyous, fulfilling feeling it was.
In case you needed more proof it's never about having the latest hot camera, that stunning Earth photo was taken with a 10 year old camera and at high ISO. π³π Granted, the D5 is extremely nice and capable.
Thank you, I really needed this on a dreary Monday morning π
And nearly every high schooler is also aware of McCarthyism... double whammy
I like being a human building things to help other humans. I also really like using my brain and creativity and empathy to do so.
I've noticed a huge decrease in people recommending diets, etc. and a new trend of anecdotes about GLP-1 "success stories" being presented unprompted to me and asking if I have considered it π¬
Due to FOMO at work, I ended up trying this vibe coding nonsense everyone was hyping up. I used all the tips and tricks and latest model and advice from my vibe coding coworkers and despite prodding it for over 20 hours, it only generated a really broken login page and some mediocre design docs.
"Is there a technology the left is excited about?" Hell yeah: bifacial solar panels, mRNA, sodium batteries, open source software, trains, organic agritech, sustainable building tech, mesh networking, cryptography, 3D printing, DIY...
Morge Ronquests
Bought a new tech thing, immediately disappointed by too-short-proprietary cables π
Thank you Senator Markey!
Abolish ICE now! Shutdown the concentration camps and the kidnapping goon squads Chuck! Dissolve DHS and investigate everyone involved!
I've been trying spec-driven LLM app generation at the behest of higher ups and it is just extremely bad. Even with "best in class tools" it mostly generated trash and took 16 hours to do so.
Shoutout to all the spectrum boys π
Abolish ICE, dissolve DHS and prosecute everyone involved. That's the only right course of action.
Upton Sinclair's "The Jungle" but it's about LLM slop factories like Gas Town and Ralph Wiggum
Yesss, I am so excited for this!
leftist plan to increase the birthrate:
- universal health care
- free child care
- better paid family leave
- better workforce protections so they can't lay you off while you're pregnant and be like "no it was for something else i swear"
