Keep going back to this book. It’s an addiction.
“But now you are talking as if love were a consolation. Simone Weil warned us otherwise. “Love is not consolation,” she wrote. “It is light.”

Om I love your photo! Mood!!! 🙌
A tabletop covered in a selection of mini-zines and materials used to make them such as pens, scissors, felt, ribbons, paper, and a deck of tarot cards entitled Big Gay Tarot Deck. One of the mini-zines has the outline of a head and where a face would be, there is text that says Your Face Here. Another mini-zine uses a keffiyeh pattern as its background and has text that reads: what to do if you want to help Palestine but don't know where to start. There is also a mini-zine about radical queer demo chants.
A section of the gallery with fluffy white carpet and pillows. There is a projection on the back wall showing a microscopic image of a cell. Below the projected image, on the floor, is an object that looks like a huge syringe made of soft textiles. The word trigger is embroidered onto the side of the object. There is a long pink piece of material that protrudes from the end like a tongue.
A wall of the gallery painted to look like a fridge door. Magnets with a different words on them have been assembled to make sentences. Me heal body. Kindle your mad soil. Let him amuse our complex life. Communicate joke until delicate copy kinship.
Yesterday was wonderful: the UoS PGR LGBTQIA+ network spent a morning making mini-zines with @megenjm.bsky.social, amidst Queering Connections: Glitchy Kinship at the Winchester Gallery (created and curated by the excellent @lizziereed.bsky.social and @miloustella.bsky.social).
Incubator 4 Anothertime by @miloustella.bsky.social is available to immerse yourself in at Queering Connections: Glitchy Kinship at the Winchester Gallery. Open Tues-Saturday from midday until 15th March the exhibition invites your reflection on, and participation in temporary spaces of kinship
The image is of a quote from Staying With The Trouble of Donna Haraway: Sympoiesis is a simple word; it means ‘making-with.’ Nothing makes itself; nothing is really autopoietic or self-organizing. In times of trouble, staying with the trouble requires learning to be truly present, not as a vanishing pivot between awful or Edenic pasts and apocalyptic or salvific futures, but as mortal critters entwined in myriad unfinished configurations of places, times, matters, meanings.”
Beautiful concepts from Reading ‘Staying with The Trouble’ now over two years ago. #donnaharaway #stayingwiththetrouble
Amazing In Conversation yesterday at Winchester school of Art with @lizziereed.bsky.social discussing our collaboration, the installation Incubator 4 Anothertime, and so many good questions from the audience. And @lenamattheis.bsky.social from Queer Lit podcast was there: the beginning of it all! 🤩
Best response to the question of the future of queer theory: "The future is neverending." @miloustella.bsky.social in conversation with @lizziereed.bsky.social
Slowly ending my Insta era and beginning to share some sound bits.
Field recordings and texts I wrote and found samples. And of course enough glitch to make me wow.🤩

Magnets on a painted background. Centred in frame are 5 magnets which reads "scavenge queer softness from resilience"
An A board which shows the exhibition poster. It reads "Queering Connections: glitchy Kinship. 31/1/25-15/3/25"
Glitchy Kinship is well and truly launched! Last night's opening was so wonderful with such a buzzy crowd. Came in this afternoon to a fridge full of stories and got to spend time with some of the invigilators playing with storytelling and character creation through exquisite corpse templates.
My feet are stretched out over a fluffy white floor. A large soft sculpture with the legend "trigger" is between my feet and the projection which is currently showing white eggs in leaves and twigs
My parents are visiting for my Dad's birthday and to see the exhibition so I'm spending some time in the incubator @miloustella.bsky.social
Incredible review from the wonderful InCommon of the exhibition on now in Winchester @miloustella.bsky.social

The four speakers at the launch of Glitchy Kinship, standing in a line at the front of a group of people in the Gallery.

Glitch Is Error
We are the most fantastic and beautiful mistake. -Legacy Russell-
A glitched image mostly mustard that fades into black. You can’t make any objects and has two lights moving upwards and leaving a train of abstraction.
“Glitch is something that extends beyond the most literal technological mechanics: it helps us to celebrate failure as a generative force, a new way to take on the world.”
Legacy Russell, Glitch Feminism: A Manifesto
Oooooh it's exciting suddenly
Install day 2. An incubator is forming
Panels with fragmented words hang from the ceiling. Two people are actively hanging one. There are tables covered in drills and wood. The words "deconstruction reconstruction" are just about visible on the end wall
Install day 3
Deconstruction/reconstruction

Have you read it?
Been digging for books to read and recommend.
Parable of the Sower opens on July 20th, 2024: in it the US is in the throws of social, political, and ecological collapse, at the mercy of national Christian fundamentalism and even a presidential candidate with the slogan "Make America Great Again."
Thank you for being my first followe! Love your work!
Will be sharing quotes, and visuals from my process. My work is often text based. I might put a bit of face here and there. Tell me what you like.
sa Genzken is a German artist (b. 1948). Schauspieler (2013) is a mixed-media sculpture featuring a mannequin dressed in colorful materials, veils, and wire, seated on a stool. This work highlights her wit, extraordinary sense of materials, and raw, unpolished aesthetic. Genzken’s mannequins are often adorned with mismatched outfits, cheap accessories, and discarded materials. Through her work, she blends humor and absurdity while also critiquing consumer culture, identity, and performance.
