In short, the game is a blatant cash grab that does everything it can to empty your wallet. Cannot recommend under any circumstances, no matter how cute the catgirls are.

For one costume. For one character. Who you still have to pull in the gacha at max rarity for the costume to work.

All of this is bad. But they just pulled out the game's first event and it got so much worse.

So premium costumes you have to spend real money to buy aren't anything too unusual. Except in this game, they boost stats and give a character extra skills, so they're straight up pay-to-win. (5/8)

The shop pulls all the usual scummy gacha nonsense and even adds new things I've never seen before. There's a VIP rank that lets you do things like auto-clear stages, get daily rewards you might have missed, and buy stuff F2P players straight up can't. (4/8)

Notably it doesn't show prices on this, which means you don't even know how much it costs until you check the shop. They did on release...but it was the Japanese price, and also it was WRONG. Here it is advertising an £8.99 bundle for only 27 yen! (3/8)

75% more value! What does it actually cost? You can't know until you open the shop and find out!

For one, the game is constantly attacking you with deals and reasons to go to the shop. Here it is offering me a deal for the 5* I just pulled that ends in two days so I'd better buy it now!

So I gave the game a few days and tried again. The good news is that the game actually WORKS now, no more freezing in the tutorial. But also it's just such an aggressive cash grab that I can't bring myself to play it. (1/8)

You can set your name in game, but for all intents and purposes you're still just Kashou. He/him pronouns are used throughout, and your sister Shigure still calls you Nii-sama.

This game was in development for six years and it never dawned on them that girls might want to play it. (3/4)

But maybe the most annoying thing to me is the player character.

The protag of the Nekopara series is Kashou Minaduki and he's a fairly generic self-insert character. I assumed since it was a mobile game you'd get to insert yourself into the proceedings. Which you can...but only technically. (2/4)

My expectations for Nekopara Sekai Connect were not high but holy shit this is dire.

The game consistently hangs during the tutorial, cooks my phone for zero reason, reduces most of the series cast to gacha fodder and shills new girl Fraise to a ridiculous degree. (1/4)
