2008 by the way was the same year Ubisoft released Far Cry 2 and a year before Assassin's Creed 2. Establishing templates that would persist for over a decade.
Beyond Good and Evil 2 surviving the massive shakeup indicates to me that it's evolved beyond just being some game in dev hell--it's Ubisoft deep lore.
To cancel a game first spoken of in the ancient tomes of 2008, the Glory Days, would be tantamount to corporate heresy.
Today's indie game: War of the Western Deep (sunsgrove.games). Currently just a demo on Steam, but a competent old-school LucasArts style graphic adventure, with gorgeous art. For people nostalgic for those days, this is one to keep an eye on (among many other graphic adventures in IGF this year).

This was actually one of the last straws for us dealing with our old publisher—it was mind-boggling that they were insisting we put THEIR logo on the cover and give them a bunch of free copies in exchange for a vague promise of getting it into stores.
Never saw a DIME from them.
