Peabody always has the most ludicrous rollovers, half the time they’re on straightaways and yet people still manage. On the plus side Peabody’s power company is insanely efficient at replacing poles.

Every so often you see a sign and have to wonder why it exists.

I grew up being told not to trust the government and keep spreading personal data to a minimum. I was also told the party of small government was the answer to this and exactly what would prevent it. I’ve been disillusioned for years, but I still shake my head every time I think of it.

I was thinking about this the other day when working on staffing a project. I always feel we need more of this but haven’t been able to articulate it so I’m thrilled to see others already have!

Mark this for the history books: “We’re talking about the president exercising his authority, and the president is of course limited to his authority. That’s the difference between a constitutional government and King George,” said Judge Charles Breyer.

Well this is fun. Chewy orders used to reliably show up at my door in two days from ordering and I had auto ship timed for that. Apparently they’ve changed shipping vendors and now my dog is about to run out of food because the order has taken three times as long.

I’m no developer, I mostly focus on making things automated and talking to each other reliably but this is what I’ve been worried about since professional devs also struggle with this.

You could copy the blobs to a file share in the same storage account, then you can absolutely mount it, especially in an Azure VM. Cleaner than blobfuse too.

Azcopy would be the easiest. A file share on the storage account or blobfuse to mount on the host VM would work but feels unnecessary unless you later need to get the disks back to storage.

Oh good, it’s not just me that does this. I’ve watched so many movies I wouldn’t have otherwise this way.

My favorite part of having @expressscripts.bsky.social as my PBM is when they call you, leave an incredibly vague voicemail, and then have absolutely no idea why they called if you return the call. This also ignoring that if you do answer they demand your PII with no way for you to verify them.

Tried to write a Home Assistant integration for the first time and was quickly humbled by how terrible at Python I am. Back to Node RED I go.

And before anyone mentions it, heat pump did just fine in near zero temps this winter! I assume it got a little help from the heat strips but the house stayed at temp just fine.

Seeing all the Eversource and National Grid bills people are posting makes me really grateful out AC died this summer and we went for the heat pump. Got lucky with inexpensive municipal electric when we bought the house and then again on timing.

I didn’t realize that having functioning and usable digital services is woke. Guess President Musk wants those services to be a train-wreck just like X.

Same! I can crank out python to analyze data faster than it would have taken me to copy and paste into excel and struggle with formulas.

My god, why did no one think of this earlier? The answer has been in front of us all along, doing what helped get Covid under control but for chickens!

Oddly @warren.senate.gov and Ed Markey’s voicemails both had some sweet, sweet digital distortion for some reason.

For the first time today I picked up the phone to voice my displeasure with a billionaire taking over the government. Thanks @5calls.org for the script and phone numbers.

MAGA yesterday: You LIBS are SICK! How dare you so soon after a crash mention Dear Leader Trump's shakeup at the FAA and how he gutted an aviation safety committee.

MAGA today: THIS IS ALL BECAUSE OF BIDEN AND DIVERSITY!

Good. Now what are you, as my elected official, going to tactically do about it?

It's good that there's a 25% tarriff on imported coffee now. This will incentivize people to purchase American coffee, grown in the New Jersey coffee forests

New year, new ways to save money.

Starting in 2025, people across the country no longer have to hand their money over to TurboTax to file their taxes.

Instead, you can file your taxes online, for free with the IRS.

See if you're eligible at directfile.irs.gov
