Many business owners like to think that free parking is the most important thing. However, in my city, most of the best restaurants are downtown and have limited or no free parking 🤔

Very cool to see this pop up on my feed the same day I crossed 7000 km on my Urban Arrow.
Totally. I stared down a guy turning right while I was cycling and clearly had right of way. He actually honked at me!
It’s even worse when walking I think.
Drivers, please just come to a stop if there is someone in your path.
Signed, everyone outside your vehicle.
I am more convinced than ever that the war in Iran is motivated primarily by stock market manipulation. Someone timing these ups and downs right is making a fortune.
I block my calendar aggressively (while also having an open door policy with my trainees). Email on the other hand…

J’écouté le discours de victoire d’Avi Lewis et je trouve que son français est pas mal, un peu comme le mien. Il fait vraiment un effort et son français va s’améliorer vite. Contrairement à d’autres, il a essayé.
I’ve been to Québec several times since making a pretty good effort to learn French. Never got any rudeness. At tourist places I’ll respond in French and they will often switch to English, seemingly to expedite the transaction. No disrespect there. They are busy. Seems the effort was appreciated.

I finally found something that makes drivers give me a little extra space when passing.
Je suis d’accord avec @sarahdorner.bsky.social : apprendre une langue est une question de priorité. Il faut se plonger dans la langue et accepter de faire des erreurs si on veut progresser. C’est difficile, bien sûr, mais ça en vaut la peine.

I’m saving this one. For me it takes around 2 weeks of planning to pack for a 1 week trip with my 2.5 and 5 year olds.
I don’t know, but there would be no subsidy in areas with good transit and/or good bike lanes. Yes, this excludes most areas, but would be a good motivator to invest in these areas instead of subsidizing climate change.
“Every refinery fire and tanker strike is a reminder that fossil‑fuelled geopolitics is incompatible with a livable planet. This war shows, yet again, that the fastest way to supercharge the climate crisis is to let fossil fuel interests dictate foreign policy.”
Just saw gas at $1.72/L.
While a vehicle can go ~15 km for that cost, I can fully charge my e-bike around 35 times. I can travel around 1750 km on that much charge.
The inefficiency of motor vehicle travel is staggering.
I was just going to say that one of my most common questions is whether I made it. I wish I had such skills!
D. Talk about bikes until they just buy one to shut me up.
Ah yes, the ornamental bicycle. Very popular in my neighbourhood.
The bike industry did its job. We now have models for all ages and abilities. It's time for our cities to do their job and build the infrastructure to match.
My Iranian grad students are incredible humans. The home of their families is being bombed and all communication has been cut off. Yet they carry on almost as if it’s a normal day.
(Yes, I am checking in with them and letting them know it is ok not to be ok right now)
I’m glad to be riding my bike to work today, while my partner takes the electric car. Quitting gasoline over 5 years ago was a good call.
The TVP is definitely flooded.

I was told my faculty picture was getting too old, so I commissioned my 4-year-old to draw me a new one.
In a way, they already do, but don’t realize it. A long time ago I had a really long car commute. I arrived to work tired, stressed, and was definitely less productive than I am now when I get to have a pleasant 15 minute bike ride, enjoying the outdoors.
This is true. Western is full of great people doing great work!
Interesting reading the comments. I’ve been at Western 10 years (started at age 30, now just turned 40). Working conditions have significantly deteriorated in that time. I’m not sure if I’ll make it to age 50 if things keep going the way they have been.
All season air conditioner.
Interesting. It really sucks when an arterial road is the only possible route (e.g. crossing a river or rail tracks) and it has no bike lanes all winter. Too much traffic and speed to ride the road.
