I really liked it, it's pretty nice for acrylic. Also, in trying to get the right greens for the fourth colour I ended up ordering four balls each of several additional greens, so I'm now looking forwards to finding other projects to use them up in.

Last night I finally finished the #crochet 🧶blanket for myself that I've been working on since Dec 2. It's queen sized, worked in single stitches (BLO) as a squared spiral outwards from a 25 stitch base chain, and used 15 balls of Caron Simply Soft worsted yarn.

Finished a #crochet 🧶hoodie I started a year (less a couple weeks) ago. I 'finished' it in May, without a hood and with a different (larger, dark blue) pocket. Eventually got my hands on more of the sky blue cotton yarn, so I've updated the hoodie and am now MUCH happier with the end result.

Nineteen crochet scarves of varying styles, colours, lengths, and widths laid out on a queen sized bed. Four of them are infinity scarves, the remainder are all flat scarves, sized from small enough for a child up to long enough for quite tall adults.

A year and a half's worth of #crochet 🧶scarves. Mostly in acrylic yarns, since I have a wool allergy, though the infinity scarf at lower left is 20% wool, and the netting infinity scarf next over from that is silk-linen. Preparing to pack them up to send off to family in Toronto for Christmas.

Had enough yarn leftover after making a baby blanket in Premier Yarns Colourfusion Dk 'Seaside' to make a scarf from the remainder. Worked this one vertically using blanket stitch, which gives a nice lengthwise blue, beige, and white zig-zag striped effect. Definitely like the more finished look adding a border to it gives.

A large scarf I'd worked lasy year, in claret red yarn using Elizabethan (mini-bean) stitch. Added a border around of single stitches plus one row of double-stitch netting.

A stripes scarf worked using two different gradient yarns, both Mary Maxim Prism, one ball of 'Rain Shower' (the darker blues and greens yarn) and one of 'Seascape' (white plus very pale pastel blues and greens). Another scarf where I worked a border around at the end for a more finished look.

Completed two more #crochet 🧶scarves and added a border to an existing claret-coloured one I completed last year. Time to box up all the scarves to ship off as a Christmas gift to family + extended family!

A baby blanket worked using Premier Yarns Colorfusion DK in the 'Seaside" colourway. The main panel is worked in extended moss stitch and the border is six rows of single stitches, broken into pairs by a row of hdc netting and a row of double netting.

Finished another #crochet 🧶baby blanket. They're definitely better projects to work on than plain scarves, as they're only marginally more complex to make (since so far I'm sticking to making simple ones) but take considerably more time to complete. And some day I can shower the niblings with them.

Large bright yellow throw blanket worked as a single stitch squared spiral in Lion Brand Chunky Chill acrylic yarn in the 'Honey' colourway. The stitches were worked into back loop only, which means there's a raised spiral texture formed on the top side of the blanket from the front loops, while the back side is much smoother. One corner of the blanket has been folded over to display the difference. A pair of glasses rest in the centre of the blanket for scale.

This is the third (and LAST) time I am deciding that this #crochet 🧶 blanket is finished. Added an additional 3 balls of yarn onto it, which has it just slightly wider than a queen sized mattress, which means it should now be a decent size to gift to one of my 6.5' brothers.

Completed another #crochet 🧶baby blanket. I am just SO happy with the end result; it's something I'd be proud to give away at a baby shower. Which has me eyeing the rather wonky one I finished a couple weeks back and considering frogging & redoing it. Worked in Mary Maxim Lullaby yarn in "Nursery".

Bought a super-cute craft bag that I hoped would be big enough to carry around my yarn spinner + whatever my current #crochet 🧶 project is, and yes... yes it is. Obviously larger projects would need a bigger bag, but I already have a large drawstring backpack for that purpose.

A baby blanket worked in double or triple stitch netting in a green, blue, and purple yarn (I think it may have been a Bernat yarn). Made as a baby shower gift for my sister 20+ years ago, it's held up remarkably well, and is currently in use as a blanket for my nephew's beagle.

20+ years ago I bought four balls of Bernat Cottontots yarn to attempt making a baby blanket for a pregnant friend... and after barely starting it, stopped doing crafts at all for most of those 20 years. Recently dug it out, frogged the original attempt, and then used the yarn tp crochet this. Even after blocking (my first time blocking anything!) the edges are still a bit wobbly because of the differing amounts of space the stitches occupy, but overall I'm happy with the end result. Unsure if I'm going to keep this to gift to one of the niblings once they start producing kids, or donate it locally.

The first baby blanket I ever crocheted (left, 20+ years old) and my second one (right, within the last month). Given I stopped crocheting for a big chunk of that 20+ years, the actual length of crocheting experience between the two is only about a year. #crochet 🧶

My most recent couple of #crochet 🧶scarves. The darker one is Red Heart Roll With It Melange in Curtain Call colourway, the other is Mary Maxim Prism in Rainbow fringed with an art yarn from Olivia Yarn Studio; there's sparkly strands and sequins in there, so it's glittery fringe.

Gaming in their golden years: why millions of seniors are playing video games Adults over the age of 50 represent nearly a third of US gamers and are becoming more visible in the mainstream

SOMEONE IS FAILING BASIC MATH. Take the decade home #gaming became a big thing (the 80s). Take the ages of the most likely adopters of said tech (teens through 30s). Add the number of years since the 80s (40-ish). Yet it's a shock that the 50+ demographic adds up to a significant number of #gamers!?

Knocked out the latest #crochet 🧶 scarf pretty fast; three days from start to finish. Worked in Bernat Wavelength acrylic, and I am scratching my head over how they got the name 'orange sodalite' for a mostly greys, reds, and purples colourway (the actual stone is blue with orange & white veining).

Spent the last few days making the small throw I made a month back into a rather bigger throw. It's now a more reasonable size for an adult to drape over their legs, though I'm still debating if I need to order even more yarn and make it even bigger. #crochet 🧶

And another gradient stripes #crochet 🧶scarf completed; this one was worked in Lion Brand's Mandala Gradient in steel blue, with one ball reversed so that the stripes went from dark blue and white at the ends to a matching medium blue at the middle.

A long infinity scarf crocheted in iris stitch out of a variegated jewel-toned green alpaca yarn. It's very fluffy. It's also long enough it can be doubled over to wear as a thicker neck scarf or hood and scarf.

A pile of additional acrylic yarns for my yarn stash. I bought four more balls of chunky yellow yarn so I can expand the small throw I made recently into a larger blanket, plus several yarns for additional scarves to eventually give away. The big cake of blue-white gradient yarn is one of two that I intend to use up for another striped gradients scarf, with one cake rewound to have its gradient reversed. The very pale and blue-green Prism yarns at far right will also be a striped gradients scarf. The rainbow ball will be used with the recent free bonus ball of pink-yellow novelty yarn to make a kid's scarf (which For Reasons I am thinking of as the farting unicorn scarf). Sparkle yarn for a regular scarf, with one cake reversed so the ends match.

Finished work on the #crochet 🧶infinity scarf made from green alpaca yarn from Olivia Yarn Studio. I am just *SO* happy with how it turned out (and it didn't set off my wool allergies!) and am keeping it for muself. Also bought more acrylic yarn for the #yarnstash, mostly for more scarves to gift.

A long and wide acrylic yarn scarf in Red Heart's 'Aspen' colourway, worked in an extended moss stitch

A long and wide acrylic yarn scarf in Red Heart's 'Aspen' colourway, worked in an extended moss stitch

Three types of yarn; two cakes of a fuzzy green alpaca-nylon yarn, a skein of multistranded unplied novelty yarn, and a free bonus ball I got of a small amount of a similar pink novelty yarn. Here's hoping my allergies don't object to alpaca, because I want to make myself an infinity scarf using that.

Finished another #crochet 🧶scarf, and acquired more yarn for the #yarnstash. The scarf is Red Heart 'Aspen' worked in an extended moss stitch. The yarns are all from a couple of Etsy shops - Color of my Fiber and Olivia Yarn Studio, both in Quebec. Fingers crossed that I can use that green alpaca.

Finished another #crochet 🧶 scarf, this one worked in Loops and Threads 'Kai' in the Pink Lemonade colourway, using shell stitch. Made it a little on the wide side, so the final length is a bit on the short side, but then I'm also pretty tall so this length is just fine for other (shorter!) people.

I second working from the stem end, you can cut off the florets where their stems diverge off the main stem, and then subdivide the large ones. Recs for eating: steam it then 1) toss w/butter+Parmesan+crumbs, 2) chill & toss w/vinaigrette, 3) aloo gobi, 4) cheese sauce, 5) butter+oregano+capers

A striped crochet scarf made of two different colourways of gradient yarn. The yarns switch off every two rows. This was worked in single stitches, with solid top and bottom rows, and three stitches to either side of an area of single stitch netting, though the fuzziness of the yarn means the netting area looks solid.

And another scarf knocked out. This one was fun, I saw a striped knit scarf on Ravelry that I liked the look of, wondered if I could work out a way to do the same effect in #crochet 🧶, and then did so. This is made using Lion Brand "Landscape" yarn in blue lagoon and volcano. Edges are a bit wonky.

Another #crochet 🧶 project done - I already finished the small throw or large shawl I wanted to try making using Lion Brand "Chunky Chill" yarn in honey yellow - my first project using such large yarn and hook. It worked up very quickly, I managed to use all three skeins in three days of crocheting.

Striped scarf worked in the blue lagoon colourway of Prism acrylic roving yarn, in alternating rows of single and double stitches. The scarf ends don't quite match, as the skeins didn't start and end at the same points in the gradients, though they came fairly close (just a couple rows short of matching).

A small square (about 11" or 28cm on a side) crocheted of a bright yellow yarn - the honey colourway of Lion Brand's Chunky Chill yarn. My first project using a chunky yarn, and my biggest hook. It's being made as a squared spiral from the centre outwards in single stitch working into back loops. I have three skeins of the yarn and hope it'll end at a good size for a throw, or at least a shawl.

Top-down photo of my yarn storage duffle bag, made of clear plastic canvas. The latest additions to it include the light blue cotton yarn at far left, three balls of chunky yellow yarn bottom middle, two balls of grey crushed yarn in plastic bag just above them, and two purplish variegated balls at far right (supposedly 'orange sodalite' colourway). Also at centre middle 1 skein each of volcano and blue lagoon colourways to attempt a striped scarf with.

My #yarnstash 🧶 is expanding again (and has been moved to a much bigger storage bag). Finally got more of the sky blue cotton yarn so I can finish off my hoodie properly (that is, with a hood) and since it barely increases the shipping, grabbed a few other yarns as well.

Finally finished a #crochet 🧶scarf I'd started back in December. I hadn't realized when buying the buff fleck yarn that it had some wool content (presumably the flecks) until it made my fingers sting as if I was trying to knit fibreglass. Stupid wool allergy 😬

My first attempt at a #crochet 🧶 kitchen hand towel. I am VERY happy with how it turned out. Worked in Premier Home Cotton in cornflower stripe, with cornflower solid for the topper. Worked mostly using my favourite stitch, the mini bean. I plan to turn the leftover yarn into a matching dishcloth.

More 🧶 yarn for my #yarnstash. A ball of dark blue to finish off a light blue hoodie I've been crocheting since January, green cotton for a second sweater of some kind, some smaller cotton balls in blue for a kitchen towel, and some pretty rainbow acrylic yarn for (probably) a baby blanket.
