And this is why studying antisemitism is far more instructive than studying genocide & why so much Holocaust teaching fails; Judenhass existed for more than 1000 years before the 20th century in a wide variety of forms, most of which were extremely harmful, but not actually genocidal...

This is more true & applicable for comparing current situations to history, than saying that the Holocaust was "uniquely German" (not entirely untrue, but)

This is applicable to far more than genocide - that is the *furthest* end of a spectrum, much of which would happen before reaching that point.
