I saw this at leevers the other day and felt my blood pressure rise

A couple of anti-wilderness members of Congress—Senator Steve Daines (R-MT) and Representative Troy Downing (R-MT)—have reintroduced their bill to slash protections for more than 156 square miles of some of the wildest federal public lands in Montana.

Holding a book with a sewn spine in a Coptic bound style.
Holding the book open with pages fanned out.
I finished binding the first one, feat. purple heron! It took me 45 minutes, but hopefully I’ll get speedier as I sew the rest of them. After considering the cost of materials + time (I used a timer for every step!) I’m thinking about pricing them at around $25 each. At least for this first batch.
we need a term in the vein of "internalized misogyny" for artists calling their work content

For real I’m in the same boat!
I am interested…
Thank you! It’s fun seeing everything come together. All the steps kinda force me to slow down and relax.
Holding a cover of book. There are holes punched on the side and a stamp of a whale shark near the right edge of the cover.
Holding the covers as a slightly different angle so you can see the white lokta paper on the inside cover.
Yesterday, I stamped the animals onto the front cover sheets (I’m using lokta paper) and this morning I glued the cover of the first book as a test run. I am so happy with how it looks omg. Next step is to finish gluing all the covers. Then I can start sewing.
Stamp print of a sitting leopard cat looking straight at us.
Redid the leopard cat stamp! It’s rounder and cuter.
Woke up, looked at the cat, and realized it ended up being just a regular cat instead of a leopard cat. So I’m going to redo it 😑
Carved stamp of a heron with a couple of test prints on a sheet of printer paper.
Carved stamp of a whale shark and a test print underneath.
Carved stamp of a leopard cat with a test print.
I did all three! The vintage lino kit worked beautifully! I am especially happy with how the whale shark turned out.
I mean, it’s not wrong.
Black and white designs of a whale shark, a purple heron, and a visayan leopard cat printed out on a piece of printer paper.
Holding an old ass 1970s looking box in the thrift store. It reads, “Hunt Speedball Linoleum Block Printing Greeting Card Kit.” The box has an array of photos of someone rolling ink on a block print with a brayer. Looks Christmas themed.
1,080 holes punched over the weekend and I just finished my stamp designs for the covers! I randomly found a VINTAGE speedball lino kit at the thrift store and will be trying it out tonight!
Three stacks of paper and book board on top of a bookhshelf. The paper stacks are tall enough to mostly obscure a pitcher, a plant, and a framed painting on the back of the same shelf.
Binding some books. Finished folding 1,280 sheets of paper. Next step is to stab 1,080 holes.
