The uphill battle in making a good video game adaption is that virtually 0 games are improved by taking the gameplay away (not good video games at least, the things likely to be adapted), so I wish them luck!

That gives me some cautious optimism, but I also have no idea what kind of story you would even try to tell with an Elden Ring movie.

What part of the world/ events will be given focus? And does it make sense to be told as a movie?

I really liked Ex Machina, it seems to be a personal passion project, and with being an A24 production, it doesn't seem like it's just going through the usual motions of a studio exec crapping something out with no care for aesthetic.

And the Souls games have intentionally avoided American accents until Iron Eye in Nightreign, so potentially just accepting it in the Elden Ring movie is interesting.

Absolutely. There are so many "mid" or even bad games that are still interesting and worth checking out for one reason or another.

This is especially true of so many retro games that haven't aged the best and are more difficult recommendations by modern standards.

I know time and money are in short supply and I'd never tell anyone to waste either, but I recommend consuming "bad" media from time to time- especially games. Why? 1) you may actually dig it 2) it may help you better understand what makes "good" media 3) it's probably interesting in some way

You could be something like 15 or maybe even years 16 old if you were born the same year they introduced a zombies mode apparently.

I think it's a game that's probably better experienced in some modified way.

I remember seeing someone with some kind of tricked out modern NES clone that somehow dramatically reduced sprite slowdown.

I've been wondering if Peter Serafinowicz would voice act in a souls game again (he was Pate in Dark Souls 2), so being cast in the Elden Ring movie makes a lot of sense.

But now I wonder if we'll see his face in the movie or if he'll be voicing some creature.

The Strokes' song Oblivius from 2016 is one I had missed and only learned about recently & fell in love with. The lyrics "What side you standing on?" have gotten stuck in my head, and I wondered if there were political implications about the US with that question.
