Though President Trump had called on Iran to "end this war", this war might just be starting.

Not only Iran, but one of its proxies in the region, the Houthi rebels in Yemen had said it will strike American ships that are passing through the Suez canal down the Red Sea.
Iran has been vocal in its threat to strike US bases in the Middle East if it were to be attacked. US stations around 40,000 troops in the region.
After today's strike, future adversaries of the US may believe that North Korea calculated correctly.
Iran gave up its enriched uranium after the 2015 deal with the US and Europe. Trump's spy chief Gabbard said that Iran was not building nuclear weapons.
It was understood that the US couldn't risk attacking a country who had already demonstrated it has working nuclear bombs.
North Korea's leader Kim Jong Un is likely patting himself on the back today. President Trump in his first term mulled bombing North Korea's nuclear sites after the country tested missiles that can reach the continental US. Ultimately he chose diplomacy over airstrike.
Spoke to @VictorDCha and Hankyoreh correspondent Wonchul Kim about what to expect from Korea’s new president. He is an unknown figure in Washington who has reoriented himself multiple times in his career. Tune in for more!

Hello! Can you add me to the list please?
We are seeing more images from last night. 42 police officers were injured, 7 of them were seriously injured, according to reports.
Nearly a hundred protesters were arrested according to reports. This morning, the acting president Choi strongly denounced the assault, calling it an unimaginable violence. He ordered increased security at courts and investigators office.
Short moment ago, the court extended Yoon’s detention for up to 20 days. Yoon and his supporters have been calling his arrest illegal and invalid. But various courts have ruled that it was justified.
Hard to ignore the parallel with the US Jan 6 storming of the Capitol. Some of Yoon’s supporters were seen wearing red “Make Korea Great Again” hats. “Stop the steal” has been a popular chant in the past weeks’ protests.
A pro-Yoon youtuber, @TV-ROCK livestreamed the incident, and his own eventual arrest.
Incredible scene in Seoul tonight as President Yoon Suk Yeol’s supporters are storming the Seoul courthouse in response to his arrest. They are smashing the windows and vandalising the offices.
Sorry, with the signal being spotty and story moving quick, it’s hard to post on twitter bluesky and threads all at once.
There has been emotional reaction from the crowd.
It was difficult getting much signal on site. Yoon is impeached and his case now goes to the constitutional court. Judges will either confirm or strike down the impeachment.
The ruling People Power Party (PPP) floor leader who is seen as Yoon loyalist says his party should vote this time. Last one failed after most of PPP boycotted it. This is an anonymous vote and it is believed that there are dozens who are quietly for impeachment.
Dog: “Merry Christmas Impeachment”
The mood is cheerful. This impeachment vote is widely expected to pass after 7 of Yoon’s own party lawmakers had openly voiced their plan to vote YES. The opposition only needs one more rulings party member to cross the floor.
Nonsensical/ casual flags are making appearances again. Left: “Committee of warriors who make odd Hyrule recipes” (confirmed Zelda reference) Right: “National Princesses Group”.
I see hundreds if not thousands of protesters gathering in Yeoyido island where the parliament sits. A very diverse crowd had gathered. Young and old and men and women. Retired marines and rainbow flags. A special section had been prepared at the front for wheelchair users.
The BBC team is on site of impeachment vote against President Yoon. Though vote is not expected for another 4hrs, a large crowd had already gathered. We will report from here all day. Live blog to come on our website. Follow us for updates and analysis!
