It's been a month since NYU Langone ended care.

Letitia James deadline came and went, NYU still has not restarted care.

Mamdani refuses to answer questions from trans journos over the real steps he can take, like directing H+H to absorb patients or enforcing human rights law.

Important thread.

Computers were a skill. They were taught in classrooms as a skill. Skills give you power over your tools because you work them as an expert and that is leverage to multiply externally.

And then computers became an A/B tested telemetry-based advertising conduit to brains for SaaS recurring revenue.

My daughter is 15, a child with a baby face whom I won’t even put in an Uber by herself. Just utterly disgusting from the same people who have spent years demonizing trans people as predators for daring even to exist. What are we even doing right now?

If you’re a journalist and you’re not asking questions about this case you should be ashamed of yourself. What purpose do you even serve? I’m sure there’s a middle class teenager somewhere who could use some harassing right now but maybe try to do your job once in a while.

no see using these photos would be beneath the Times, which would never take material from a dubious source, unless it was, say, hacked documents showing that a guy born in Africa had put 'African-American' on his application form for a university he didn't get into. You know, something important.

In short, force them to try to rule by naked force because they *do not* have enough force and the very nakedness of it will mean they have less and less.

The Civil Rights movement overcame far more with far less, if we had a fraction of their courage, we'll win.

Pardon me, but while MAGA and Trump may want to use it that way, we don't need to let them.

I think it is absolutely the case that Trump aspires to be something like a fascist dictator, I said so last October.

But we are not powerless and they have not won yet.

I think the best place to be right now is deeply worried but stopping short of going full Doomer to remember that Donald Trump has like a 34% approval rating and if you’ve already granted him God-King powers in your mind you’re falling for what he wants everyone falling for.

I am coming around to the view that at least some of the work at this point is to find ways to create (however imperfectly) a microcosm of our vision for the future in our everyday lives.

Which is a big transition for me as someone who long held contempt for what I saw as lifestyle activism

It seems that the only trans person known to be in the orbit of this horrific Kirk assassination saga expressed shock and horror, and immediately cooperated fully with law enforcement.

Important to recognize that he is a coward and a loser and his regime is unpopular and he cannot do this. literally, this is impossible, unless people think and act like he can because they think he can do it legitimately or are scared of him. Don’t be.

My take on this is that racist and hateful parents are livid that their kids are coming home on Thanksgiving break of freshman year and telling their family about new friends of other races and sexual orientation and the parents consider that indoctrination

The free speech activist who built a list of professors he worked to get fired for their speech must be celebrated for his support of free speech, and anyone who quotes his speech accurately in context will be fired and/or face state punishment by the champions of free speech, do I have that right?

Jews were then a tiny percentage of the population of the United States–something like 2,500 souls out of almost 4 million. But Washington wanted to emphasize that the members of this small and previously persecuted minority were entitled, here in the United States, to the same rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness as everyone else.

Two hundred and thirty five years later, there is in this nation a minority group whose rights are under severe attack: transgender individuals. We have a presidential administration which seeks to curtail those individuals’ rights. We have a powerful political movement that wishes to make them afraid.

This is wrong. It’s also un-American. Other Americans don’t have to understand or sympathize with transgender individuals. But we ought to defend their basic human rights. We ought to do so out of a simple sense of justice. But we also ought to do so out of a sense of pride that our nation exemplifies an “enlarged and liberal policy” for mankind, and that here “there shall be none to make him afraid.”

One could call that American greatness.

Surely part of it, but explicitly calling for public opposition, protests, and to film and report everything also played a part IMO. Pritzker gave a greenlight and encouragement to that in a way others didn't, and that made an immediate difference.

Leaders *can* mobilize public opinion and action.

The WSJ has done a lot of good reporting in the news side in recent years, but whoever wrote and signed off on that — in addition to the broader journalist ethics of publishing that at all — were directly pushing an anti-trans propaganda effort into the news pages of the WSJ with no qualification.
