I’m at an Algerian restaurant in Paris that’s playing ska music. This is either going to be the best or worst couscous of my life.

Jurassic Pâques Kristian and Lilian have been out of town this week. I haven't really done anything interesting on my own, because I'm working on a freelance job. Between that and having sole charge of walking Lumi, I've been stupid busy. I did take some time to have a mini picnic on Wednesday, when the weather was particularly nice. I stopped at one of my favorite cafés and bought a sandwich and an iced tea.

In which Lumi and I do a lot of walking and I watch Jurassic Park dubbed into French.

They took Pluto from us, and then they took the brontosaurus. No wonder we Millenials have trust issues...

It’s infuriating when a woman comes forward about a man raping her in his hotel room after drinking and the response is “Why would she go to his room?” “Why would she drink with him?” This is Mike Pence logic. Women should be allowed to hang out with men without expecting they will be raped.

I swear I will vote for any person who runs on revenge and court reform. That’s it. Those are the two planks of your campaign? You got my vote

Paris, je t’aime Greetings from the TGV, where I’m chilling out in first class. Train travel hack: sometimes first class is about five euros more than a regular ticket. Sometimes it’s twice as expensive. It’s well worth the extra five euros. It’s not really worth double, unless someone else is paying. (Second class is already pretty comfortable!) I took the train up to Paris on Friday to meet up with some friends.

In which I make a quick visit to Paris.

Let me say this plainly: Iranian children have as much of a right to live and thrive as American children.

Their babies MUST be as precious to me as my 6 niblings and my baby grandnib are IF I want them to have a future.

If I want a future for my kin AND humanity, I MUST act like it.

So must you.

Joyeuses Pâques Fun fact: here in France, the Easter Bunny doesn't bring eggs. Instead, we have the Easter bells ("les cloches de Pâques). Wait, what? Traditionally, Catholic churches don't ring their bells between Maundy Thursday and Easter Sunday. It symbolizes the state of mourning over Jesus. Somehow, this turned into a story for children that the bells have all flown away to Rome, to be blessed by the Pope.

In which we send Lilian on an Easter scavenger hunt.

Can I Get an Attestation! Skirt or shorts? No service. Lilian is going on a school trip later this year that requires her to have an "attestation savoir-nager." Basically, she needs a certificate that shows that she knows how to swim. She'd have one already if she'd been in school here a couple of years ago. They all did a swimming unit as part of sports back then.

In which Lilian take a swim test in one of the coolest pools ever.

Springing Forward Daylight Savings Time started in France today. We start later (and end earlier) than the US, which is kindof nice. For a couple of weeks, we were an hour closer to everyone's timezones back home. Now, we're back to a six hour difference from the east coast of the US. Time zones in Europe are pretty wild. Everybody wants to be in the same zone, so Central European Time is…

Hey.

I decided to do a wellness check on the timeline. If you see this: pause.

Think of something soft and quiet and peaceful that makes you happy.

Take a deep breath.

Close your eyes and unclench your jaw.

Release.

Its not much, but I hope it helped you.

Be well, friends. ❤️👍🏾

“By agreeing to pay a €2 million fine as part of a settlement with French prosecutors on September 2024, Nestlé thought it would avoid a trial over its illegal practices (drilling and filters) at its bottling sites (Vittel, Contrex, Hépar) in the Vosges region of eastern France. That was not the case.”

Municipal Elections: Part Deux Fun fact! The "Écologist" mayor of Lyon, Grégory Doucet, won reelection yesterday. He won by about 3,000 votes. That's pretty darn close, but seeing as how everyone said he was going to lose the first round in a blow-out? It's pretty darn great. Kristian was hoping that he'd be able to cast a ballot, but he wasn't eligible yet. As an EU citizen, he's allowed to vote in municipal elections (even after I get my residency permit, I won't be able to).
