project hail mary was disappointingly a cartoon for little kids, but it was a really well made cartoon for little kids at least

I love that Le Guin story where the alien protag finds himself enmeshed in a nuanced conflict between two societies with vastly different cultures, both flawed but one clearly preferable, as he struggles to not only complete his task but break through strange & cruel customs to find shared humanity

yeah I fully get what you mean, i just think the naming conventions out there are pretty half baked and it's affected how we talk and think about games

that's what the player does!

not to mention that arcade sticks are mechanically similar to analog sticks despite being digital! and when you get to the software level, it's all digital anyway... so i don't even think that term makes sense, does it? we could more descriptively use "discrete" and "continuous"

like to me as a player, a stick and a trigger and a trackball are not similar to each other, especially not in some exclusive category that doesn't include buttons or dpads.

i can get down with fixtures but inputs is too ambiguous to me
