I see people on here disappointed by the news of Bluesky accepting more crypto VC money and not sharing that with the community until after the former CEO stepped down. Tough place to be for a community.

A photo of a digital shortwave portable receiver. Brand and model blanked out using torn pieces of bright yellow paper with prints that read: RADIO and HI on them.
New article! "Making Music with Radio Signals" is a write-up of my experience with the medium. Full of demos, photos, tips, tricks and a tiny bit of pondering about why radio is so attractive to me.

Poster for the event stylized as an old-school electronics magazine cover. Text says: Gain & Tone Elements Effect construction workshop by Pedal Markt * Filter * Tone * Mix * Split * Boost * Feedback * Overdrive * Distortion Prototyping jig and parts included Get started in audio electronics design!
I'm hosting an introduction to electronics of audio workshop this weekend in Berlin Neukölln.

No prior knowledge required. We'll cover the common building blocks of pedals and synths. From passive filters to mixers, amplifiers and distortion.
Poster for the workshop goes for an old electronics magazine look and reads: Elements PCB Design & Manufacturing * Schematic capture * Board layout * Production * with KiCad Workshop by Pedal Markt
Hosting PCB Design & Manufacturing with KiCad workshop on May 3 in Berlin Neukölln.

ʒʒʒʒ] Experiments in Sound
This Thursday , April 3, 19:00 at Pedal Markt, Berlin Neukölln
Special guest: Kriton Beyer
pedalmarkt.com/pages/zhzhzhzh
This is an event where everyone is welcome to share their music and sound-related experiments and performances.
Photo of the insides of the Fuzz Face pedal. This version uses old germanium transistors.
I have a couple pedal soldering workshops planned in Berlin. Both are quite fun, participants can tweak the circuit, experiment with transistors & diodes to make the device fit them best.

Kollage of 5 photos of parts of an abandoned US military base. The most prominent features of it were a large green rotting metal water tower. There was also a ginormous antenna array you can catch a glimpse of on the bottom left photo.
A few photos of an abandoned US military base. The place made me want to play some Fallout 2. Also reminded me that there was a series recently based on the game. The series turned out to be meh.

Want to find European alternatives for all those US web services and tools? There’s a website for that: european-alternatives.eu
photo of a piece of yellow construction paper filled with custom stamps. Some are shapes, there's a pedal markt logo, some are text: stamps4life vol out fuzz feedback everything built by _ date _
I'm trying to document my work more. Sometimes out of that process come out cool artifacts like that collection of custom stamps
Designed in FreeCad and cut with a CNC, yes. I've asked a friend who's much better at CAD to help with a tilting solution, that's still in the works.

We managed to convince Google to open source PebbleOS. Took a while, but they just did it today! github.com/google/pebble
With that, we're bringing Pebble back! I blogged about it - ericmigi.com/blog/why-wer...

Experimenting with custom pedalboards. Hit me up if you want one!
I feel like RingMod* is one of the most underappreciated effects and building blocks for sounds.
It's a very simple idea that leads to complex and harmonically rich sounds. Or in the context of slow signals (CV) fun juicy modulation.
*aka 4Q VCA; aka Mixer in the context of RF
That being said, I'm only using it for small sketches as backgrounds for jams or practice. Haven't actually built full tracks with an iPad yet.
I'm surprised how useful and fun an iPad is for making music.
Sound sources, effects, MIDI. They all interop with each other (via AUM).
The limitations of a relatively small screen and large fingies inspire creative controls, so it doesn't feel or work like a conventional DAW (good thing)
Photo of there PCBs lying on gift paper
These beautiful tiny breadboard modules are included: Attenuverters, VCAs & an LFO.
Half price for people who attended Elements 1 and have the parts.
* Sources, transformations and destinations that we can use Control Voltage (CV) with;
* Tremolo and Ring modulation effects;
* CV-enabled blend and volume controls;
* Adding CV capabilities to almost any circuit.
There are some prerequisites, please check the details on the site!

Elements: Modulation on December 14 in Berlin NK
pedalmarkt.com/collections/...
This workshop is focusing on modulation and use of control voltage in audio circuits. What we'll cover:
Photo of a PCB lying on gift paper with flowers. Text on PCB says "Longwave"
PCB for all your wobble needs
Photo of a green pcb on gift paper. The text on the board says "mag"

All the workshops are at a reduced price in December. Thank you for supporting Pedal Markt! 👾
We'll build filters, tone controls, mixers, splitters, clipping and distortion circuits.
All the parts and a prototyping jig are included.

Elements: Gain and Tone on December 7&8
This is a two day introduction to electronics of audio and breadboarding. The first day is more about passives and basics of current / voltage. The second day is more about active circuitry and building your own things!
Works great as a boost, OD or distortion. Stacks well with other dirt. Doesn't lose low end on bass and drums ❤️

Overdrive soldering workshop on December 1st
The circuit is based on a discreet (built out of 3 transistors) non-inverting opamp. One switch for choosing clipping diodes, another for changing the filter cap for more clang.
You get to experiment and pick the diodes and filter caps.
Planning pedal building and electronics workshops for December atm. The first one is already next week!
I'm hosting those at Pedal Markt in Berlin NK
I've put together a starter pack of #demoscene people on Bluesky that I'm currently aware of. If you know of someone I missed, or if I included you and you want out, send me DM or reply here. Anyway; here are some good people: go.bsky.app/QurewHJ
Let me re-introduce you to the project I am actively working on: the Sitina 1, an open-source full-frame mirrorless camera! I have made a short thread on this more than a year ago, but that was incomplete and also outdated. Given there have been lot of new people coming, I decide to write a new one.
