The media is not letting you know that the nearest Brent futures is for 2-months out. This chart is kind of misleading since there is a one-month future WTI contract available, but they don't show you that chart because it's not very exciting.

Be careful what you're reading. This divergence between spot and futures prices is because the nearest Brent futures contract is for June (two months away). If you look at WTI 1-month there is no divergence with spot.
