I believe one of the easiest trial for followers of Jesus is to see Jesus in the face of the needy.

So they seem to have wanted a less "layman" or "simple" pope with the same line. A more moderate style but not tone.

That was said a lot, but it was more like he'd be more moderate in style. Which was expected. Him and a couple others were the Francis line.. While the other line was the straight more conservative line, but the church had really benefited from Francis charisma and leaving the Karol's cover ups.
