It might look as if we came in time for the Liverpool team bus but in reality it was the prospect of an early pie! Brighton Away - best pies in the land, but don’t eat the sticker. I learnt my lesson on the pink iced buns at Plymouth!

My talented friend Vicki made this fabulous colour coordinated bookmark thong to match The Book Chain. Luckily for the general public it will be worn only by the book and not me! Thank you Vicki x

Happy New Lunar Year to all those celebrating today 🧧
Also Shrove Tuesday aka Pancake Day here - so I suspect duck and pancakes is the crispy cultural crossover dish of the day! 😋

One month to go until publication of my novel - The Book Chain.
At the moment, it feels like a complicated jigsaw puzzle but that’s all part of the journey. I’ve loved it. Love my cover too - thank you Elisabeth.

Wise words from my M&S advent calendar today. Keep calm!
Meanwhile, over in John Lewis land, they’re in a bit of a muddle. Two number 23’s and no number 17! I randomly chose one of the 23’s on the 17th and now tension is mounting to see what’s in the other 23.

Hanging the Yorkshire tree decoration on the Christmas tree this morning above the kangaroo, kookaburra and echidna hasn’t really produced dividends I was hoping for…

Some of you may know, I have written a novel in 2025. Not wishing to disturb the gentle trickle of cricket, football and general nonsense here, I have set up another Bluesky account for those interested in the book. I am brand new, naked of followers 😳 at @rachaelwongauthor.bsky.social

Please join us on Sunday for some carols if you’re in the Solihull area. Last year’s concert was a lot of fun. The Twelve Days of Christmas was very energetic! There is a live stream for those further afield.

I took some Hundred playing shirts out to The Gambia last week. The staff at the nursery school where I’m a trustee thought they were great. Although I suspect they weren’t entirely sure what cricket is. As always, it was a fun and uplifting visit. #TheHundred

A wonderful, spontaneous and emotional moment after the match when Mo Salah conducted the Kop singing the Diogo Jota song. A lone figure, last down the tunnel, visibly moved.
An emotional evening. So loud. Absolutely bonkers when Chiesa scored. What a start to the season ❤️

So exciting to catch up last night with Brad and Holly Carter at their new restaurant Island in Mare Street Market at Coal Drops Yard. Amazing food, service & vibe. All the creativity & warmth we love about Carters - now in the capital. Can’t wait to go back. Highly recommend #coaldropsyard #london

Great to hear stories from the panel of women’s association cricket experts this morning. Thank you Lacuna Sports for hosting and congratulations on your excellent presence this summer at #SOOOLDN
245 Regent Street for a superb selection of women’s sports kit and equipment. And a great vibe.

In amongst the families, sequins & cowboy hats last night for Dua Lipa, there were a few groups of lads. You could tell, they were the lads who flew to Poland in 2018 & sat on a bus to Kyiv for 10 hours. The lads for whom I wasn’t sure how One Kiss would land. But boy, did it land!! That moment 🙏

Fair play Dua Lipa. She’ll push through the rain. Would definitely pick her on a wet Tuesday night in Stoke! She did Anfield proud tonight. One Kiss twice in the rain! #DuaLipa #Anfield ❤️

I’m interested in what’s happened to pomegranate sales figures since the Persephone episodes came out. I hadn’t bought a pomegranate in 20 years. Now I’m devouring at least two a week! Thank you for the podcasts and the new ingredient in the family diet. Wonderful in summer salads! Much love x

I was listening on the way back from watching cricket in Chelmsford. The A14 is usually grim but every time I drive along it in future I will think of that match and your commentary. I will smile and the A14 will forever be better! Thank you @bbc5live.bsky.social
