It is with great sadness that I let everyone know that Whisper went to visit Willy at the Rainbow Bridge. Her feline momma probably knew, and that’s why she was left in my backyard. My heart aches, but at least she spent her last few days being snuggled and loved.

So, I guess I’m now a mom to a kitten? Coraline and Boo were barking at something outside, so I walked out and there she was. The littlest little kitten. She’s warm and happy.

My house is quiet; too quiet. Peaches should be barking at the wall, or the air, or throwing a tantrum because someone is on the bed that she has decided is hers. Eleanor & Coraline should be playing and running around the house. I love my four, don't get me wrong. I am just not used to the quiet.

This was written for someone who RUNS a rescue, but it is also for volunteers. Build armor for regular humans, and OTHERS in the rescue that you work with. I have been out of rescue for about 6 months. I’m not sure if I will go back.

I knew that every minute I had with Peaches was an absolute gift, & I appreciate every second. I am 110% sure that when she arrived at the Rainbow Bridge, my brother, Willy, looked at her & said something along the lines of “I’ve been waiting for you … took you long enough,” & gave her some treats.

Wow. Foster kids in Oregon are effed.

AI has started hitting the legal field. Since I am a control freak, I’ve absolutely REFUSED to use it because, among many other reasons, I know I’m going to have to double check it …. So why not just do it myself to begin with?

Grief is not linear … nor is it the same for everyone. Now that I have a house, I think of all the fun he would have had. I have guilt for not helping him more … still. It hasn’t gone away.

But, mostly, I miss my brother. I didn’t realize I would miss him this much.

Of the 7,064 days that Peaches was on this earth, she was mine for 1,910. She has now made the trip over the Rainbow Bridge and Willy is taking care of her.

In my family, we say “Happy Fuzzy Mother’s Day” because of Willy. When he and Twyla were dating, he called and left a message saying, “Happy Fuzzy Mother’s Day.” So, as a way to honor fellow fur moms, Willy, and Twyla, our family has continued the holiday.

From this sheet alone, one can tell I was removed from my biological parents’ care before I was six months old, and before I was eight months old (or before reaching the two month mark in the system), I had been in three placements.
