This suicide awareness month I’d like something to be clear: self-identification of Autism reduces suicide risk and increases efficacy of psychotherapy. Individuals must behave responsibly for optimal wellness, but invalidation of self-identification only serves to further oppress and harm us.

Amalia Levi's "layers of information in an archival document”:
-What is said
-What is not said
-What is alluded to
-What is omitted intentionally (and unintentionally)
-What is misleading
-What is ambiguous
-What is highlighted
-What is downplayed
-What is weaponized
-What is unintelligible today
I started reading and I can’t stop. I wasn’t this awestruck by a short text form in a very long time.
reminds me of someone
Cover of the report - it's in a blue/purple color scheme and shows an abstract illustration of a molecule and the title of the report "Understanding and Addressing Misinformation About Science Consensus Study Report"
Out now - National Academies consensus report on Understanding and Addressing Misinformation About Science 🧪

Just Asking Questions Example from Parks & Rec "I'm not saying that Leslie Knope is a dog-murderer, per se. But it does raise some questions. Like is she a dog-murderer?" Example from NY Times interview of JD Vance when asked if Trump lost in 2020 - "Did big technology companies censor a story that independent studies have suggested would have cost Trump millions of votes?" Mr. Vance replied.
The just asking questions effect from @irahyman.bsky.social & @maddyjalbert.bsky.social. Simply asking a question can imply that there is doubt about a conclusion or event ("I'm not saying Leslie Knope is a dog murderer but it does raise some questions like is she a dog murderer?") #sarmac2025 2/
for the first time in history, the world is witnessing a battle of wits in which BOTH opponents are unarmed
I want to quote this at the end of my future memoir
Beat me to it

At the Grammy's in 1976, Ella Fitzgerald and Mel Torme explained what jazz is.
The result? The crowd losing its mind. 🔥
"WE'VE ARRANGED A society based on science and technology, in which nobody understands anything about science technology. And this combustible mixture of ignorance and power, sooner or later, is going to blow up in our faces. Who is running the science and technology in a democracy if the people don't know anything about it?" "Science is more than a body of knowledge, it's a way of thinking. A way of skeptically interrogating the universe with a fine understanding of human fallibility. If we are not able to ask skeptical questions, to interrogate those who tell us that something is true, to be skeptical of those in authority, then we're up for grabs for the next charlatan, political or religious, who comes ambling along."
I think a lot about what Carl Sagan said in one of his final interviews.
You can always tell when something upsets Trump by when he fixates on it. The way Trump can’t stop posting about @vanhollen.senate.gov means this hit him where it hurts. More, please and thank you.
I was sure it’s The Onion
Word of the day is ‘bugiard’ (17th century): one who distorts the truth beyond all recognition to fit their own agenda.
Mae Jemison wears a bright orange NASA space suit and holds her helmet for a photo
Since we’re all talking about it I want to blow up a real female space pioneer, Mae Jemison, an actual astronaut. She’s a graduate of Stanford and Cornel Medical School, served in the peace corps, started an educational nonprofit, and worked for the CDC researching vaccines. That’s a woman in space
I admit I was busy with other stuff but it strikes me now that there was a moment where “social networks” began to be called “social media” (which is a very different dynamic and intent) and now we oftentimes need to find other tools to build actual social networks
val kilmer’s turn in TOP SECRET is one of the single best comedy performances ever committed to film, both in terms of comic precision and mechanical virtuosity. just watch this whole clip in its entirety; it’s stunning
Abolish April Fool’s day. Society has moved past the need for April Fool’s day
Hello, F84.0/299.0, Level 2 and F90.2, Combined presentation. What a time to be still alive.
me, getting cross in the comments on a vacuous article on celebrity ADHD diagnoses in the Independent.
I've been getting a bit cross in the comments
Section of a San Francisco map in the works. Not necessarily going to be the next map released but it's on the way.
I've been getting a lot of requests for a grand SF map for a while and I agree, it's time!
Commentary: President Trump’s recent executive order on mental health is dangerous: It groups autism and ADHD — natural, genetic neurotypes — alongside chronic diseases. This is not just inaccurate, it is harmful to millions of neurodivergent Americans

the rabbits ate the tax form and I found myself fixing a wall in ladies room of an Irish pub, all in one week. my first standup comedy set is way past due.
One of the best poems I’ve read in a while is actually a text from a series of speech balloons in a comic by @namesecrets.bsky.social (on instagram)
I have some electrons.
I dare you to eat them.
Maybe nothing happens.
Maybe everything happens.
Not the happiest scenario during/after mass protests, that’s all I am saying
Silver alert screenshot with a “Missing/Endangered Adult” text and a bit.ly link
Bit.ly page saying “Something’s wrong here”, as if the one for broken link
Speaking of emergency alerts, this is what I got 5 min ago and this is what the link was pointing to.
It has taken medical science 200 years to advance humans to the point where people are so healthy and living so long that they can afford to contract vaccine-preventable diseases to own the libs.
One more break: This is the kind of thing where we need more independent or even citizen journalism. CNN and the NYT won't cover something like this. But it's these kinds of stunts that might keep us from fascism.
I honestly don't know how any D senator can look themselves in the mirror this weekend.
