Enjoying Claude Design though. Still needs lots of tweaking but pretty good and enjoyable

Claude gave me $100 in free credits (maybe every account can redeem this?) and I didn’t touch them bc I have no intentions to mess w the API but now I can apply them to Claude Design. I’m really liking it but man this thing burns money. Free allotment from x5 + $100 = ~2 days sporadic use

Anyone who outsources mass blocking to subjective judgements by strangers is already very red flagged

but i suspect that the killer product / wrapper that's missing here will ultimately be something that both seasoned devs and non-technical folks will appreciate, possibly w just a few discrepancies in setup / primary top-level features

I haven't tried all of the products that are attempting to unify the full experience, in a way similar to what i've explained, like base44, lovable, etc., which seem to be targeted at non-technical users

All of this seems extremely obvious to me, though I don't hear my seasoned engineering friends complaining about it or being frustrated, maybe b/c they are less frontend focused and used to / comfortable living in terminal sessions

for seeing app pages, or reading documentation, or looking at the code base, or reviewing the design system, or switching from project A to B while some 5-15min async task is happening in background for project A

most of the seasoned developer friends ive talked to just run 2-4 concurrent terminal sessions of claude cli -- i personally hate this. i'd much prefer a UX experience closer to figma make or even claude design. one unified chat on the left hand side, and a sort of browser exp just to its right...

session chat, give that agent the other agent's prompt, and continue. a massive friction point and something that should literally be happening int he background w/o ever bothering the user, no default design system

and there's the issue of no good wrapper spanning the entire multi-project workflow

major branch/feature merge testing (full test suite), a process to manage user requirements that doesn't go to shit when context collapse begins, self-managing of said context collapse + agent sessions; currently users have to prompt claude to summarize a fucked session chat, close it, open a new...

the other major issues i've been facing are a lack of out of the box guardrails and standards -- defining and auto-implementing FE UI/UX rapid iteration verification (does the updated frontend actually do the thing the user just asked the AI to implement),...

but I do think some extremely good version of nailing the full UI/UX of agentic product development -- a AI workflow wrapper that covers the exp end to end -- is less than a year away and it's going to be a massive unlock for product creation and refinement

but just getting that to be MVP for me to use has been a massive pain (and I'm not fully there yet) and while Claude Design has elements of this, it's still so far from what's needed

and I was also creating a dev design web UX toolbar a repo could to display a design system (style guides, tokens, components, rules, page layouts, etc.), allow the user to edit it, and have a inspector tool to show div border + css classes on hover + lock in to change styling variables

i was actually just banging my head against the wall trying to create my own design system, as someone never formally trained or employed in design (just stumbled through making a few apps from 0 to 1 doing all the things including design) when Claude Design launched last Friday

do local edits, and then export it again. super annoying.

there is some massive unlock that i think we are a short ways away from though. in my mind it's something like what a figma or even powerpoint power user is capable of, for spinning up and modifying page layouts, components, mocks, etc.

like go use this other product, and create an app from scratch, and then export as a zip, and then tell your AI agent to turn it into a functioning code base, and then get the backend working, and then whenever you want to iterate on more design UI/UX in a real way again, point it back at the repo..

does anyone have opinions about Claude Design yet? UI/UX rapid iterating via agents was extremely lacking before this. Figma Make isn't good. I've only just started using CD and parts are promising. But it's still fully disconnected from the normal AI-powered app development
