Having learned firsthand that people on social media do not read, they skim, I find example after example now of people having greatly reduced reading comprehension capabilities.
When I write, I choose all words carefully. Skimming too often gives the reader the wrong idea. Reading does not.

Bluesky is glitching out a lot lately. First "invalid handle" on my account, then my tab for @yankeevelofoxtrot.bsky.social showed nothing but a blank bluesky account page. Last week, I couldn't access the system at all. Have they been hacked?
I'm going to see if I can get Chris Parma to answer this question, as he seems to have some background in that kind of planning/engineering.
And I abhor the way the curb cuts are set at a 45Β° angle to the intersection instead of, you know, AT the crosswalk?! WHY do city engineers do this??
Dutch-style raised crosswalks set at least 3-4 meters back from the edge of the cross street would help.
We just have to wait until braindead boomers can no longer govern us.
There's only so much hydrological engineering that can be done to accommodate the amount of water before you're digging detention ponds that are 500 meters deep.
Finally been re-inspired to get back to editing a book I started almost literally 2 decades ago now. I've written much of it, though it's still lacking some material to tie multiple chapters together. I tend to write when inspired and figure out how to tie it all together later.
And as usual, Twitter shows us what a cesspool it is from all the negative attention your post garnered. Algorithms written with the intentions of promoting negativity and antagonism.
The founders of Delerium also founded the classic industrial band Front Line Assembly, with Bill Leeb having once been a member of Skinny Puppy. It's like he's presenting us with his own yin/yang of music talents π
I know that almost no one I know shares my taste in music. Nonetheless, this remix album by Delerium is fantastic!

The person I know has a non-electric one as well. I've just never seen it in person. They do appear to be good workhorses as cargo bikes, whether for people or cargo. That's all I'd use it for, but maybe only a couple of bags of potting soil π
I only know one other person with one of those. I'd like to get one eventually. What is the durability like? I know they have been in business for a while, but am wary of some brands thanks to what happened to RadPower. If you can talk about it some, I would appreciate it greatly π
To my Houston friends here:
Was there any news today about power-line towers getting knocked around by either weather or bad mistakes?
I ask due to how the lines here were jumping around and making that 'twanging' sound like they did when straight-line winds knocked down towers in NW-Houston.
I was never science/math-minded enough to become a geologist, but I also never lost the fascination with it.
This is -- me in a loss for words; very impressive!

The Dutch blueprint for urban vitality goes far beyond the bicycle.
It begins by reclaiming public space and reducing the dominance of private cars to make room for cities that are accessible, attractive and alive with possibility.
Bikes arenβt the end goal, theyβre just the means to get us there.

I suspect it's this kind of cycling for why I always get pushback about riding in our local climate (hot & humid) in a slow and easy manner so as to not sweat. The antagonists just cannot comprehend going slow π
That bent parking meter doesn't look so great either. I wonder if it can be spun around 180Β°...
You could interpret it as "human scale" versus "industrial scale".
Multimodal transportation is human scale.
Highways are industrial scale.
You know how boomers have their phrase "Get off my lawn!"
Well, how about for those of us who ride bicycles and are old, to use the phrase "Get off my roads!" π
No, they aren't exclusively ours, but we do pay more for them than drivers π

Yes. Went out earlier this evening, 1st time since January (cold wind adversely affects my sinuses). Riding back was in the dark, but I love riding at night π
I plan on doing the same tomorrow.
Had a good (but short) early-evening / nighttime ride today.
Nighttime riding is the best! π
More too polite drivers! And again on W Bellfort. They slowed and waved me across (I was halfway through the crossing).
Driver coming crossing opposite direction took advantage of them almost stopping. But, I waved them on, shaking my head "no", and they almost ran into the crossing car π
Yes, though I've seen the videos of drivers in UK (especially work van drivers) and many seem to be terminally toxic. Australians seem to be the worst of all English-speaking countries, and I don't really understand why.
Our system relies on children to look both ways because adults driving don't. Great strategy.
When I was a DM, I had to learn to hold my tongue and just let the party hash things out, only speaking when they asked for info. If someone was dominating the conversation, I would then use my opportunity to offer hints and ideas.
It is an unfortunate fact that players need to be assertive.
Loved the new video from GCN and Si, and have to share it now π
One thing which came to mind about those against bike lanes is that they don't think critically. They exist on vibes. If you ask them to "think", they just get mad π

I had exactly the same thought as I saw this car in Seattle the other day: the constant refrain of βget your toys out of the streetβ bicyclists face every day. It lifted even further as the light changed and they drove on. I was hoping for a small rock to take out the rear differential.
