Thanks, I have the ROMS sorted. The last issue is the keyboards often (too often) repeats keys. I have replace one of the Caps suggested (C71) but no change - Its most likely the keyboard decoder. I have ordered a new one off Ebay - hope its not a fake.

It's been fun fixing this Apple 2e. Program ROM's were dead. Fortunately I was able to download and burn new ROMs.

Initial print done - Fits together beautifully. Needs a bit of touch-up, a brass thread, a switch and a spray paint.

It's really bad form to have this on by default - It should be OPT-IN by default!!!!

Not sure yet. I open it up soon and test it. But can be dirt, bad pots, bad caps or solder joints… it’s (hopefully) not going to be too difficult to fix.
There is a really good service manual for it.

Ha… I didn’t know that Von Neumanns drive to design and build his computer was driven by his fascination about weather forecasting. The idea to be able to predict and control the weather. This was linked to Lorenz’s work on weather systems. Edward Lorenz created Chaos Theory.

The most frustrating and (now) useless key in history. It was useful decades ago, but no longer

On Linux, use this to disable it.
setxkbmap -option ctrl:nocaps

My amazing friend @rayredacted.com is helping me give free soldering kits to the youth at @defcon.bsky.social - and any extras are going to be given to random folks I see in the hallways! If you want to help hit up Ray and he'll match your donation:

Getting a bit of retro fun in today. Got my retro collection out of storage (too expensive now) and doing some sorting… ok playing. After a quick head clean, glad to say the disk drive works. #retro
